if you know Joe Morelli, Stephanie Plum and Lula, I want to talk to you!

I am also not so sure about the casting. No one meets my vision of the characters.....I will give it a chance though.

have read all 17 and most of the between ones. One last one is waiting for me.

Love the books...they got a little predictable for a few years but the last one was great. I'd also recommend Wicked Appetite which Evanovich put out last year.

Just bought that one but haven't started it yet!

Well, I'm getting ready to read #4 so I'll check back in with all of you in a few days! I am just so curious if Joe Morelli can be "all that" or if he's just full of himself. :rolleyes1
ahha!

The grandma is a stitch!

I just got book 4 from the library tonight. can't wait to read it. Love Grandma and LuLa. Joe can be all that at least in my imaginary world...

I truly think Stephanie belongs with Joe. He is more settled and laid back than Ranger. And seems to truly love her more.

True..:thumbsup2 besides Ranger is meant to be elusive and mysterious..a relationship with him doesnt work in the long run.

I was all for Joe until the last couple of books. Joe started acting like a total butt and Ranger started acting a little more into Stephanie, almost ready to be in a relationship sorta.

I Love Stephanie Plum!! I have read them all, can't wait for # 18 in November! I wasn't thrilled with the casting of the movie but I am willing to give it a chance. Seeing the trailer makes me believe them more but I really don't think the guy that theyhave playing Morelli fits.

I found the first 9 or 10 books amusing but the last few I haven't been able to finish. I feel like it's just the same old stuff but even more ridiculous and silly.

Can't do it anymore.

Russel Brand...He, BTW, is my favorite comedian. LOVE his stand up...But I think he is too small to be Sally.
But who's big enough? Brad Garrett and Conan O'Brien - and they're both too old, and Conan's not nearly hairy enough!

I like Wicked Appetite because I live so close to where it's set. And because I could easily be swayed into the Diesel camp!

Yet I think the humor has picked up over the last few books.

is it important to read these in order?

My lending is out of book 4 but I have 7,8,9. Can I read 7 and then read 4 next? or will it ruin it?

never mind -- found them at the used bookstore.

Now I just "met" Sally and I really like "her"

I know this is a few days old, but I just found it. Kathryn Heigle is the one that is killing me. They started talking about doing this movie ages ago and at the time I thought Ranger would HAVE to be The Rock, which could still work. I also though the actor who played Elliot Stabler on SVU would be an excellent Morelli. He's too old now, though.

I wonder if anyone asked the rock? Maybe he said no. I recognized Ranger from Sex and the City . I'm anxious to see how he is -- you can't tell much from the movie trailer.

The author (Janet Evanovich) fired her agent after book 12 and hired all her family members to be a part of "Evanovich Inc." Her son is now her agent, her daughter is an editor and runs her website, her husband is her business manager.

The books took on a really different tone after that. Much less edgy humor and romance and much more slapstick comedy. Many people believe it is actually the daughter doing much of the actual writing these days. Janet Evanovich herself is in her late 60's now. After book 16 her longtime Publisher (St. Martin's Press) refused to meet her contract price and they dropped her. The contract (Book 17 on) was picked up by Random House for an undisclosed price. It actually does have a much more early Evanovich feel to it than anything that has been published by her in recent years. I believe she is under contract with Random House for 1 more Plum book and then two more Wicked books.

As far as the movie goes, I don't think they had the budget for much A list names beyond Heigel. It was originally slated as a "summer blockbuster" with a July 2011 release date and then they suddenly buried it's release into January 2012. It doesn't make me real hopeful but we'll see. I really hope it's good. At least it didn't go direct to DVD.

If you wanted my advice I'd say read books 1 thru 12 in order. 13 isn't terrible but it reads like a much different book than the earlier ones. It is kind of unsettling to have so much build up in book 12 and then all of those plots really go nowhere. Skip book 14 unless you want to torture yourself. I honestly rate Fearless Fourteen as one of the worst books I've ever read in my entire life. Books 15 and 16 are kind of okay but nowhere near as good as the best books of the series. They also don't build on any previous story lines so if you miss them it is no big deal.

Read 17 which ends in a mini-cliffhanger and then you'll be ready for book 18 which is being released in November I believe.

I am getting ready to start book 10. Is this the one where Stephanie finally gets to see the bat cave?

If you really want to know ............ spoiler spoiler spoiler

Not exactly the Bat Cave but she does turn the tables on him a bit and take liberties with his living arrangements. The Bat Cave is forever and Ranger just isn't a forever kind of guy. As of yet. ;)
