I know it's only a request. However, I have written in my records that on 8/21 I requested PLAP. Just called DCL to confirm - they dont have it. Just called DVC - they say I cant request it. Say I need to make dining change once I get onboard! Told them there wouldnt be a chance then cos at that time everyone else who is unhappy will be changing too and everyone will have been assigned - in other words, too late!!
Ahhh - things are starting to fall apart here!

I've been following your planning for a while, and I say this with the greatest of respect, not trying to hurt your feelings, but: You cannot micromanage every small detail of your trip. Did I get the rotation I wanted on our 7 night--no. Was I wearing tropical attire in Lumieres (loud gasp) Yes. Was my trip the best vacation I ever had: YES! It will work out, it will be great. The worst trips I ever took were trips when I had these tremendous expectations, or had attempted to plan every minute detail. PLEASE RELAX!

I can sympathize with the urge to micromanage...I'd probably be committed if anyone ever saw my trip files, typed itineraries, etc. Granted, we have 9 Disney cruises currently booked, so I have to be somewhat organized, but I was the same way before we started cruising, when we did WDW a couple times a year.
But that being said, I also make alternate plans in case something falls through. And, if necessary and things REALLY get crazy, hubby and I are always ready to fly by the seat of our pants. Do I prefer it if everything goes according to plan? Yes! But do I still have a great trip even if we have to wing it? Absolutely! Well, usually...I must admit that the kneecap injury, which caused substantial changes to our plans, was something I would prefer not to repeat).

Changing rotations on board is really no problem. But even if you don't get it - so what. I have found that the things I end up enjoying the most are the unplanned for. There is so much to do, it will bother you more before the trip than during. Relax, it will work out wonderfully I am sure.

Remember, it is ONLY A REQUEST....They may not even note it on the ressie and they definitely would not confirm it for you on the phone. Go with the flow and have a good time....nothing is falling apart.

Deep Breaths!!!! things are going good this week. Your DH is beig agreeable, and school is working out great for DS. Nothing is falling apart. Do not panic! ;)
Even without a request(and its only a request) you have 1/3 chance of gettign exactly what you want. Maybe you could make alternate plans for all 3 possible rotations. Then when you get your actual rotation, and if its not what you want and you cant change it to what you want, you will have a plan to fall back on. Just think, no matter what you are going to have the same 7 meals, just in a different order.
Its getting close, enjoy this final planning time and dont stress. :D

OK - youre right - things arent falling apart - lol
Ive been reading though that others have been able to request their dining rotations and now they wont even note mine! Oh well, I do remember I posted not too long ago that there are pluses to each rotation

PLAPLAP - formal night Lumiere's, tropical night Parrot Cay
APLAPLA - semi formal in Lumiere's
LAPLAPL - dont need to dress up 1st, last & tropical but we werent going to anyways

and Ive also read that families with older kids have been assigned PLAPLAP so yes there is 1/3rd chance we may still get it

but why have people been posting that they were able to request a rotation and I cant?

with 4 cruises under the belt and one coming up very shortly and one in May .... i have not even thought of planning dinning rotation,,,,, IMgoingtodisney should i have or is there something i have been missing ??? on my 4 perfect completed cruises
now i feel ripped off thanks alot....
we r just different i guess... we just go with the flow a little more i guess ... have followed all your POSTS
just chill it will be the best trip of your life
have a great time peter

sorry - this is what Ive been reading for the past 10.5 months!!
People HAVE requested dining rotations and prefer one rotation over another. Its not just me - there are several dining rotation preference request threads.

just read another one where people requested a certain dining rotation and that was posted about 430pm TODAY

People makes requests all the time, I think what everyone is trying to tell you here, that's it's only a request. You shouldn't let the fact that you might not get your prefered rotation ruin your vacation, or for that matter, cause you any concern. Personally, having just returned from my first cruise, where I didn't place any type of rotation request nor will I on our next DCL cruise, it wouldn't bother me which restaurant I was eating in on which night. It's the trivial things that make people so stressed. Let this one go, it doesn't matter. You're going to be on the cruise, it looks like DH had decided to be a grown-up, in the scheme of things is this really that important???

What Im saying is neither DCL nor DVC would even take the request from me. You just said that some people HAVE managed to make requests. Why cant I?
I'll try to let it go but I dont see how others are managing to request but I cant!

If every cruiser called in requesting a dining rotation those calling in to make RESERVATIONS would never get through. :)

OFFICIALLY, DCL DOES NOT TAKE DINING ROTATION REQUESTS. Have some folks been able to have a sympathetic reservationist add it to their reservation? Yes. Does it actually make a difference? Maybe or maybe not. But the official stance from DCL is that they do not take this type of request.

The bottom line is that it really does not change the enjoyment of your cruise ONE IOTA no matter what rotation you have. DCL DOES allow you to request a SEATING TIME as that DOES make a difference in your plans for a cruise, especially if you have younger kids. But since you will eat in ALL the restaurants it does not matter which one you start in. :)

No offence, but can't you leave anything to chance? Are you like this with everything? If so, you are going to give yourself an early heart attack.

It sounds to me that your as much upset at the perception that other people are getting something you are not, as maybe not getting your way with the restarants. Have you ever thought that most people do not call to re-confirm whethter their request was "noted" or whatever and that once they make the request, they don't follow up? So when they get what they want, they think it's bc of the request - but maybe it's not???

Hey Imgoingtodisney, I think we should change your name to
Imgoingtohaveanervousbreakdown... Take a chill pill! Disney
does not accept dinner rotation requests unless your a cat 3
or above. Period. End of statement. I called a couple of times
before we sailed (party of 14) and they said we'd get them when
we got on the boat. They didn't even sit us at same table, but
gave us two 7 person tables, which worked out because we had
7 adults and 7 kids. Go enjoy your cruise and stop worrying
about everything... Regards, Gary

okay okay however I have read from someone who has a cat 6, not a cat 3 and they did request - dont know if they called to confirm

DISNEY WILL NEVER CONFIRM A DINING ROTATION so don't be upset that they didn't confirm it when you called again....as Michelle said, if a CM happens to note it on the ressie...great....if not no big deal. Just relax and take what comes. I have called to make a request in the past and did have a sympathetic CM who said they would try to note it but didn't think they could. Was it luck or not that I got the rotation, who knows. I certainly would not have been at all upset if it did not happen.

MJ

This is probably a stupid question but what is the point of requesting a particular rotation. I'm not sure of the reason for it. Can anyone fill me in? Thanks

People request dining rotations, b/c formal night might fall on a night that they'd be at a certain restaurant; or they might have kids and would prefer to eat at a certain restaurant twice (on the 7 nighter); etc. etc.....
