I know I can't take photos or video, but can I BRING my camera for later in the day? In my email it says they will check our bags, if I have a camera, will I have to leave the area? I don't want to have to go back to our hotel to get my camera in order to take photos of the decorations. Anyone know for sure? Thank you.

It's never been done this way before, so I don't think anyone will know the answer to that. I am bringing mine, and I am sure most will. We just can't take any pictures during our time slots. I am sure they will enforce it with the extras, but there is no way to enforce that with onlooking visitors, which we will be after our time slot.

In 2001, we were there the day of filming, and yes, it was post-9/11 so they'd just started the policy and they checked our bags. Nothing was confiscated. Our video camera was left untouched. In fact, I have a picture of Regis and Kelly from a bit of a distance, during that day.

I am sure that they will not make you take your camera back to the hotel. If anything they will tell you to bring it to City Hall where they will secure it for you like they do with the tours (since you can't have them on the tours, they sometimes...not always...will have them secured there). Chances are they will just remind you no photography is allowed and to please leave your camera in your bag for the filming. Now if a CM sees the camera out during filming that is another story, but just for bag check I would not worry about it.

We have taken cameras into the filming before. We weren't extras and were able to get some shots during the filming. I made sure the flash was off and I had a decent lens so I could stay farther back. Noone seemed to care though. Unfortunately due to other problems, the pictures didn't turn out.

Is this policy new? I was at the Parade filming three years ago and took plenty of video and photos of Regis and Kelley and some of the MANY run throughs of scenes. There was no attempt to stop this and we had no trouble getting the cameras into the park. I can understand that they would not want those being filmed to be taking photos since they want them "reacting", but not for guests to the park. Are you speaking about being there for filming the parade before the park opens?
