If you have a young DD w/ long hair, what do you do with her hair after her bath?

My DD is 5 and has long hair. It looks much better when blown dry, but we just don't seem to have the time in the evenings to go through this process. Any tips or ideas on what to do after bath time w/ her hair?

DD, 6, has long hair to her butt...literally.

We just let it air dry. The L'Oreal kids shampoos with the quick dry notation on the label really do work. Takes about 1/2 hour to dry the hair almost completely vs. the one hour plus before. You can see it starting to dry within 5 minutes of finishing her bath.

Give it a try.

Are you serious? Wow! I never heard of this stuff - please - what is it called exactly - do I get this in the grocery store? That would really be a lifesaver - I hope I don't sound like I have been living under a rock :o

I'm going to have to find this product too.

We wash and condition her hair and comb in the shower with conditioner still in. then rinse and put in a pony tail. let dry naturally and then brush out in the morning.

My mistake...it's called Fastdry not Quick dry. There's two kinds...we use the one for normal to thin hair. I think it's the pineapple one. I buy it at Stop and Shop but I think they have it at CVS and WalMart too.

Spoisal...it's fairly new so don't sell your rock home just yet :)

Like I said, it works great. It's pricey but worth it. You can also get the coupons in the paper every few months. Stop and Shop just had a 2 for 1 sale on it 2 weeks ago and that happens pretty frequently so be on the look out.

When I was younger and had very long hair (as a child) my Mom would braid my hair while it was still wet.

I'd take out the braids the next morning and I'd have mega waves! (I loved it because my hair was very fine and straight)

THANK YOU ....aprincessmom! I'm going to the store RIGHT NOW! ;)

I tried the fast dry on my daughters hair for a while, but I thought it was drying it out so I stopped. I usually let it air dry after a light misting of spray conditioner, sometimes I do the braids so it's wavy, but usually not as I put it up before school anyway.

Man! I would have loved this stuff when my dd was young. If I let her sleep with a somewhat wet head (don't tell grandma but I did do that from time to time and she didn't get a cold, lol) her hair would be all tangled up in the morning.

My 9 yo dd had hair down to her butt until this past February. When it was long, most times I'd braid it loosely before she went to bed. Her hair would have a slight wave to it in the morning and she loved that (her hair is naturally VERY straight). She tried the fast dry shampoo, but it seemed to make her hair too fly-awayish. She prefers using pantene in it.

I braid Kelsea's hair.

I get my 2 younger DD's in the bath earlier!! Both have long hair and I do blow dry it but leave it just a little damp. I then let them watch t.v. for about 1/2 hour before going to bed.

Bathtime is about 6:30.....they are 6 and 4

DD has long hair... I give her a bath in the am... We are up at 6 giving our cat insulin anyway:rolleyes: ... or make sure she has her bath by 7... then we air dry... she is uncomfortable with loud noises so we rarely blow dry...

DD has long straight fly away hair too - I mostly braid it loosely after her bath. She hates the hair dryer. If you looking for that "shiney" look I think J&J has a kids Shine-In spray.

I always pull it back in a quick ponytail and use a large fat scrunchi so not to put a ridge in her hair. I hope the shampoo works for you but be careful...there is something in there that is making it dry faster, could be more alcohol, that could leave her hair dry after time, not in the good way but lacking moisture dry, however I hope it works for you but be careful you are dealing with princess hair Right?

Belle's hair is down to her thighs (yikes!), and she HATES the blow dryer. We do early bath, spray-in detangler, and I do just a couple inches of braid, then leave it in a pony tail. It'll still be damp in the morning, so first thing, I comb it out and let it dry the rest of the way. It looks gorgeous perfectly straight, so I prefer it that way (but actually rarely see it, since she almost always wears some kind of braid). We also only wash it ~ once a week, it's just such a pain. BUT, she wants it to grow to her knees, and then send it to "Locks of Love", so who am I to tell a princess not to share her beautiful hair?

We haven't had any trouble with DD's hair becoming dried out or fly away with the shampoo. She uses a wash out conditioner on it to help with the snarling from shampooing. Maybe that's why.

We tried using the detanglers but they made her hair feel "yucky" so we stopped.
