If you hated hoop dee doo, can you share why?

I was scared to death when I booked HDDR. I have a husband who can be "moody" and unpredictable - even at WDW and my son was a pre-teen who was in that stage of often trying to prove that if mom thought something was great he thought it was just HORRIBLE.

Thankfully I had NOTHING to worry about. My husband LOVED the food and must have said at least 10 times that he couldn't believe they just kept bringing us more Sangria "for free." But even before the Sangria kicked in he was having a great time - he actually sang along, and my husband NEVER sings - EVER. I wish I had video of him singing and clapping.

And my son - I am not kidding when I say I have never before or after heard that kid laugh so hard, it was like he was out of control he was laughing so hard at all the corny jokes. He can be a super picky eater but it must have been because he was having so much fun - he ate more at HDDR than he had ever eaten at any other WDW restaurant prior to that point.

My husband had complained about how expensive the tickets were before we went but right after it was over he thanked me for booking it and said it was well worth the money. My husband works from home and every time he is talking on the phone with a co-worker who is heading to WDW I always hear him tell them "You've got to do HDDR!"

I love HDDMR, I have been 4 times and its a must do for me.

Last trip was my DH's and BIL's first trip. DH had researched it a little, and pretty much decided before hand he wasnt going to like it.... but he likes ribs and fried chicken and unlimited beer... so he agreed to go. And BIL is "moody" and unpredictable as pp stated her DH is... so you never know how he is going to react... but both of them loved it and BOTH of them said it was a MUST DO for this upcoming trip.

We are not country people and we don't like country things, I don't like country music, even staying at FW is a little "rustic" for my liking. I could never spend my trip in the cabins... Its just not for me.... but I LOVE this show.

I know you asked for negative reviews... but honestly it's one of the highlights of our trip.

A friend suggested we go to HDDR, and I was a little hesitant because it was just going to be my boyfriend and I so I thought it might be too corny..but it was awesome! We both had a great time. My boyfriend said it was one of his favorite parts of the trip. I would definitely try it.

We were always on the fence with HDDR, my DH loathes all things country, and can be really hit or miss on corny fun. We finally went last December for the first time while staying at VWL. We had a blast, really enjoyed the food and all you can drink sangria. Our whole group got really into the show and we would totally do it again.

Hate it!!! omg let just say if the kids are badly behaved I threaten then with Hoop Dee Doo....it was just sooo cheesy..my kids at the time were 10 and 4 and both of them were bored stiff the whole time the 10yr old thought it was pure torture...I had to keep explaining the corny jokes to my 10yr old. Jokes were bad...dancing was awful..food was so so mediocre..we got one strawberry shortcake to share between 4 of us. My 4yr old didnt like any of the food so he sat and got nothing to eat...I did ask if they could bring him something else and they said no. I felt like we were herded in like cattle and sat too close together...oh my goodness..I could go on and on....suffice it to say we wont be back.

You must really hate SOA then....

We love all the Dinner shows. We make it a point to see two of them alternating HDDR and MBBBQ every other visit.

Our first time at Hoop De Doo the kids were teens and still I'd run then too hard and they were over tired. The oldest was at her limit and was being surly and rather miserable and slouched down in her chair pouting and grumbling and it was as if a miracle occurred. We were seated and inside and the show was punny and funny and by the time the cornbread came DH and DS had come to life and were smiling and before you knew it so was she. And by the time her dad was on stage as a volunteer participant she was laughing and taking cell phone photos and by the time the strawberry shortcake came out she was downright pleasant. I think it was a Disney Miracle. And if you ask them now (at age 21 and 27) if they had fun they would give you a resounding YEEHAH. And trust me. They are not country kids. They've never seen Hee Haw and they don't like that sort of thing but it's a great community spirit and it's just fun. I hope you try it and enjoy it as we did.

How old is your daughter? If younger than 5 or 6, I don't think this this is a good choice. Overall, our family loves this show, but I don't think it is great for very young kids. My son loved it at 6 and still requests this as his favorite at 10.

we went a few times ..mostly first for ourselves and then we took our daughter and grandkids...Not our favorite...everything tasted like molasses ..sort of like the beans and ribs...even the corn tasted like that...but we gave it a try both times...

Our server was great, offered swaps of food like dessert when she thought someone didn't like something and offered my little guy mac and cheese when she saw he wasn't eating much. She was very busy, but still she noticed this. A real pro. We were on bottom floor over to the side in a category 2 which had just the right amount of cast interaction without the spotlight. All this going on while show is. Excellent, loved it.

OP is looking for reasons to not go. DH and I have been twice and loved it. There are always lots of kids there and it's just fun. As for a PP I can't imagine a child not at least eating the fried chicken and the strawberry shortcake is delivered family style on one plate ( like all the food) but I'd hardly call it a single serving. Also, many people have reported being offered kid friendly food for their children. We've seen SOA too and once was enough for the food there although the show was interesting. HDDR is just good clean fun.

I drank beer, ate fried chicken and ribs and watched a football game on the Ipad when we went. Great compromise as the wife loved the show. It was meh for me.

I found Hoop De Doo soooooooooo boring! I don't know if it was because we were on the upper level, but I was happy when it was over. The best part of the show for me was watching my son enjoy it. I don't think I've seen him belly laugh so much. That was worth it right there. He was 8 at the time?? I wouldn't go again unless the kids asked. The food was great though, I did love the food. On the other hand, my husband, kids, and parents loved both, the show and the food!

I never like the food, but put up with it. The piano player is fantastic, the show is good fun. There is something about singing that does a body good. The cast members come into the audience to sing to those with special milestones, and to find out where we are from. A lucky few audience members go onstage. We tell un-bear-able jokes at home for weeks afterwards.

My 2 year old loved the show. She obviously didn't understand the jokes; but the music, people laughing and screaming all around us, and all the dancing around, clapping and foot stomping cracked her up.

I was seriously thinking of cancelling this last November but a few of the people in our group had been and wanted to go. It was the first night that everyone coming for our daughter's Disney wedding would all be in so we wanted something different to start the festivities. Everyone in our party of 20 had a blast. I don't normally like corny shows but the actors were so good and the way they interacted with the audience was terrific. 2 in our group goy chosen to be in a skit on stage and it was one of the highlights of their trip. I avoided this for years but it turned out to be a lot of fun. BTW, people in our party were anywhere from age 7 to 65.

We just went this month after 20plus years of WDW trips. We had great seats. Neither my dd or myself enjoyed any of it, sad to say. I wanted to enjoy it, but found the food and entertainment blah. Many people were tremendously enjoying themselves. I don't drink, maybe that's what does it :)
