If you had to pick one . . .

. . . would you choose Le Cellier or California Grill? We have been to neither, but are thinking of trying one on our upcoming trip in October. I have heard so much about both of them and in our three trips to Disney have never been to either one. It will be me, DH, DS (13) and DD (10), so children are a factor. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

I havent been to Le Cellier but California Grill rocks! Your kids will love it as well, the view of Magic Kingdom is just incredible.

Been to both. Two totally different experiences. Food very good at both. Depends on what experience you want. CG to see castle and fireworks, much more of a total experience. If I had to choose one, esp. if the first time, definately CG. Next time do the LC. If money is an issue, CG is expensive. But they have great martinis, (make ya forget the bill). Have fun. We haven't decided on our ressies for July either.

Actually, we have the free dining plan so the cost will not be a consideration. It sounds like CG is the way to go for us on this trip! Are you able to see the fireworks from any table or is there a specific area we want to try to sit in? Also, can you tell me if there is a dress code? I'm thinking I read somewhere that men might want to wear khakis instead of shorts? Thanks so much!

Sorry, one more question. I know that on the dining plan, CG will use 2 TS credits per person. I wonder if it would be possible to only order 2 meals for my husband and I and let DS and DD share with us, using only 4 credits instead of 8? With the dining plan, if we order 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts, we'll either be stuffed to the gills or have alot of food leftover!!

Oh - you ask a difficult question. They are both excellent restaurants. I dunno. It would depend on my mood. Am I in the mood for steak or California inspired food? Well, okay. I'll pick the CA Grille. You have kids, so why not go in the evening and try to time it so you can see the MK fireworks. Request a window seat when you check in on the 2nd floor.

You will want to wear "resort-wear", a dressy casual. When it's time for the fireworks they allow you out onto a viewing deck. You can't see them from all tables.
If you are interested in food prep, the kitchen is open. In April my friend and I got a tour from the chef. Just ask if it's your thing.

Yes, you can just order for 2 people, using 4 credits instead of 8. I'm sure it will be plenty of food.

As another Poster mentioned, these are two very different experiences. We usually do both when we visit. We do LeCellier on an evening that we have spent the day at Epcot.

When we dine at California Grill, we usually do it on an evening after we have spent the day at the pool or spa. We dress nicer and spend a nice evening capped off with the MK fireworks!

I will be going to CG in august. I heard the portions are not that big, not small in any way, just on the smaller side. You might want to check out the menus and other's comments before you commit to only using 4 credits vs 8
