If you had to choose only 1 Table Service...

Which would it be? To have more money for trinkets, we aren't planning on any Table Service meals. BUT we are in our 2-month reservation window so I was wondering... if you were only going to eat at 1 place in the parks, which would it be and why? Thanks!

Blue Bayou! Without a doubt! It's such a unique experience, being right in Pirates. Now, you'll get wildly conflicting opinions on the food. I always order the surf n turf, and it's great! Wonderfully prepared filet mignon along with a lobster tail. But that's only available at dinner. But some people don't like the food. Each to his/her own!

Try to get a waterside table. They'll always tell you that it's an extra 45 minute wait, but in reality it's usually an extra 10 minutes.

Another vote for Blue Bayou, but largely based on the atmosphere. There really just isn't anything else like it. Ask for a water-side table and soak it in.

Blue Bayou certainly has the atmosphere but the price vs. quality of food is absurd. Yes, the food is good but not WOW considering the over the top prices. For that kind of money I'd rather go to Napa Rose which has excellent food and good atmosphere albeit somewhat expensive as well.

You can get better and cheaper food, but if you have not been, it is worth going for the experience of being immersed inside the Pirates ride!

My second vote would be Goofy's Kitchen for the variety of food and fun with the characters.

Table service at DL for me is much more about the experiences and atmosphere than the quality of food, which can usually be found much better at DTD or other restaurants.

Ask for a water table - it will be a bit more of a wait, but if this is your one time only reservation restaurant, then it's worth it.

Be forewarned - if you order the Monte Cristo (which they're famous for), it is a large serving. We all ordered it (3 of us) and we could have very easily just ordered two servings and had enough to eat.

The gumbo...out of this world.

And in case you haven't had enough of the gumbo and the Monte Cristo...Cafe Orleans (also a reservation restaurant) also serves the exact same sandwich. We loved it so much we ate there and ordered it again.

Then again, we don't get to Disneyland often, so we tried to get our fill of it!

Depends on if you have kids, and their ages and to a lesser extent, genders.

This is true but they still have the regular same one as the Blue Bayoo Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans. I would have liked to try the three cheese version, but I couldn't pass up the regular one. One of the best comfort foods there are. It was our celebration post Disneyland 1/2 marathon meal.

I would recommend rethinking the table service options. We found that by having one good meal a day we really cut down on snacks throughout the day, saving our $.

Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle are pretty pricey, so if you want one expensive meal to experience in the park, then you need to decide whether you want the experience of eating in a restaurant inside a ride, or if you want fine dining w/good food (and what I thought was good service).

I would suggest you also consider having breakfast at Steakhouse 55. They have good breakfasts (good food and good portions) under $20. For the theme park experience, I think that this is a good option.

If I was only doing 1 TS I'd do BB in DL hands down. You will have people say it isn't worth it, but for me it is. For multiple reasons. I also enjoy the food very much, the chicken is amazing. In DCA I'd do Carthay hands down, amazing food, superb service (I think they should cross train the BB servers at Carthay actually) and I can have a glass of wine with my meal.
Of course those are both more expensive places to dine in the parks but I'd still chose them over other TS places.

There's just something about it. It really IS one of those things you HAVE to do at least ONCE in your life.

My husband grew up going to Disneyland (for one day each summer with his parents, adult relatives, and a passle of cousins). He told me when he was a kid riding POC, he'd drift past the people dining at BB and wonder what it was like to eat there. It seemed very unique and special and unattainable and he wished that he could experience it. His wish finally came true in Oct. '10 when we went there for lunch.

On Saturday we leave for what promises to be our last trip to Disneyland for a very long time. Living in AZ has made going to Disneyland accessible but once we move to Michigan we know we won't be back for at least another 5-7 yrs. This trip is a big deal... And DH doesn't know it but I have made a reservation for lunch at the BB on the last day of our vacation. It almost makes me emotional thinking about it... but can't think of a better way to say farewell to this place we love and will miss so much.

My vote is for Blue Bayou too. LOVE that place!! Our fave is the braised short ribs. droooollll...However, it IS quite pricey!

Now, if you want a table service that is FANTASTIC, but not any more costly than a normal restaurant outside of the parks would be, look into Carnation Cafe! We totally dig it here! The atmosphere is wonderful here too, it's tucked right into the middle of mainstreet, so you get people/character watching, the music, etc. And the food is AWESOME! If you've never tried their loaded baked potato soup, holy moly, it's delish and you MUST have some! WOW! I know they've added deep fried pickle spears to their new menu too and they are supposed to be ridiculously good, but I have not yet tried them myself, so we'll see in a few weeks!!

I agree with MJ...I love steakhouse 55 breakfast...I had the chorizo and egg burrito one morning early and i couldnt eat anything till dinner...I prefer eating out for breakfast if Im doing a TS...so although you didnt get specific on it, Im going to vote for Minnie and Friends character breakfast at DL park or Surfs Up! with Mickey and Friends at PPH...they both charge about the same as BB or CC but you get buffets and have your choice of foods and how much you want to eat/drink

Another vote for Blue Bayou for all the reasons pp's have mentioned. There are several sit downs we like but BB is so unique. btw, their potato side dish is wonderful!
