If you had an extra room and some extra $$$

What would you do with it? How would you decorate it?

DBF and I play fantasy role play games, which usually involve having 4 or 5 people over at a time in one room, with a large table set up for game pieces and tables.

I'd love to have a room set aside just for this, decorated in a fantasy way. Maybe with a fireplace and things like http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10861&item=2239841131&rd=1

decorating the walls. I also have a fairly large collection of ancient Egyptian stuff. Right now my fantasy and Egypt stuff is all mixed in with my Disney stuff in the living room curio cabinet.

I'd love to have a room (off limits to the dog!) just for the fantasy and Egyptian stuff. Maybe make one small room of the house look like it's a den in a Medieval castle or adventurer's home.

So what would you do? If you could have just one room and a limitless budget?

We did HAVE an extra room but it turned into Mantown. It is full of all kinds of sports stuff. And considering what sportscards and memorabilia can cost you would think that DH has an unlimited budget hehehe

I would just love to have my own craft room....I am not good at the decorating thing....lol just paint the walls pink :)

I'd love to have a craft room too. We have a puppy who likes to grab whatever we're holding so trying to do any sort of crafting around him is impossible.

My parents have a hot tub room. It's soooo nice. It's like a glassed in porch with a fireplace stove thing (not sure what it is...it's not really a wood stove but looks like one). Of course, they hardly ever use it...

A playroom for my daughter. I could get rid of the toys in the living room/dining room/kitchen/bedrooms and put them all in one room. That would be heaven lol.

A game room, definitely! With a large table that we can play at and shelves for all my games. Oh, and a cabinet for my craft stuff, so I can do that when there's no games to be played.

We have a playroom and the toys still end up in the living room/dining room/kitchen/bedrooms somehow. ;)

I know this will sound silly but...we have several rooms and I don't feel like I need anymore BUT...our house has no closet downstairs for coats etc. If I had the $$ I would build a coat closet in. I REALLY hate how our coats end up hanging on the dining room chair backs and the shoes are out in the open (we have a shoe rack but it still bugs me).

Ugh. We have this problem to. We have a gorgeous antique style coat rack right by our door but it either gets way overused and looks awful, or not used and coats end up on the backs of charis, or on this hook hanging over one of hall closets that is supposed to be for holding plants

a library with built in bookcases on every wall. :)

I would add a large family room off of the back of our house. Our smallish living room is the room you walk into when you walk into our house- it's hard keeping it tidy with all the toys, etc. I would love to have a big family room in the back of the house, to keep toys, a large comfy sofa, big TV, etc to hang out in.

I do have an extra room and it is my UNIVERSAL office! I have only Universal pictures everywhere and my desk and laptop set up in there.

For some reason it makes me feel 'important"!

If I had the $$$ to do something with our house, I'd add an outdoor "room". Have the yard fenced, add a beautiful arbor, and spend lots on landscaping and plants. We love being outdoors, and our home lacks a nice look in tha backyard.:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I'd make it into a personal home theatre. I mean a REAL one with the theatre seating, huge screen, proper sound and lighting. Heck, throw in a concession stand area and we're golden!

Well, we are buying a new home so I finally get to make this dream come true. Like caitycaity, I've always wanted a library with built-in bookcases. We have so many books and we've got bookcases helter skelter all over the house. We plan on building in a windowseat between the shelves and several big comfy chairs. I just can't wait! I've been living in apartments since my divorce several years ago and it'll be so nice to actually have room for all our stuff.

It also has an office for DH, a finished room in the basement for DD to have sleepovers, a glass four season room, and an extra bedroom that I can use as a craft room.

We've been very frugal for several years and have saved my entire paycheck for the last couple of years so we have plenty to spend to buy new furniture. We'd been waiting till we sold DH's house and got a new one. I've NEVER had new furniture in my whole life. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!
