We have 222 points from joining but due to military commmitments I shall not be able to take a family holiday until July 2002 at least, we are a family of 2 adults one child, our use year is Aug so we will gain another 222 in Aug... Ideas please, did we buy to soon!.
P.S. It is normal for our WDW visits to last 14 days.

Thanking you all in advance,

First, a little clarification is needed to assure you do not have a banking problem. I assume the 222 you already have are the points issued Aug 1,2000 and good until July 31, 2001. If so, have you already banked all those points into the 2001 to 2002 use year? The 100% banking date expired Jan 31. If they have not been banked, the most you can now bank is half (and you have until April 30 to do that) and the other half must be used for a trip that is completed by July 31, 2001 or they will expire.

Assuming you have banked those points into the Aug 2001 to July 2002 use year, then you can use them for that July 2002 trip. You can also use the ones issued in Aug 2001. Moreover, you could even borrow from those to be issued in August 2002. Nevertheless, the only ones you will actually be required to use between Aug 2001 and July 2002 are the banked ones. If you do not want to go 14 days, you will have the option of banking those points issued Aug 2001 into the next use year. However, there is nothing wrong with going for 14 nights ; in fact, most believe the longer the better (if we could live there we would)., and you won't run out of things to do.[

When did you join? Did you consider banking them, Isn't there a one-time emergency banking that can be done.o

Banking them is your best bet, but if you get into a use it or lose it situation, and you're located in Scotland, how about a weekend getaway to the Dorchester in London! Or, how about a few days at Disneyland Paris!

Hi there. I have 400 points to use every year, so
I'll try to help you spend some of yours! We
usually take a week at OKW in January for 160 pts.
Then we try to visit DL in LA and use points for
the hotels there. I have family there who I like
to see once a year. By the way, there is a great
Navy Lodge in the Balboa Park area in San Diego
right near the zoo. (My husband is DAV). Then, we
try one of the places we've never been,
either with a trade or by using the Concierge
Collection. Some of those properties can use up
those points real quick. If you wish to see NYC
the Shelbourne Murray Hill is very nice, and not
just a hotel room. Another thing that would be
nice is to use some points to stay at a hotel at
WDW. I have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary, so next year we'll use points to go
there. A family reunion is also a good use of
points. Get a larger unit and have some people
join you. Hope I've given you some ideas. Have
fun with the points. Anita.

We have only recently joined in fact only 2 weeks ago,What we are looking for is ideas as we are newbie's. We visit every year for 2 wks on property except this one... So if you have any ideas where we arrive in Orlando and stay and do something different.

Thanks for all the replies to date

PS. The only reason for the one visit per year is the cost and travel time from home. It goes like this last time, four hour drive to leave the dogs with family, leave there and drive 3 hours to airport, another 3 hours at check in prior to departure,Then the 9 hours flight, then collect hire car and drive to the Kingdom... All the triedness leaves you when you see the Disney sign over the roadway.

Since you just joined, there is a form in your package so you can bank all your points into next year since you aren't coming until then, then you can plan a WDW/Cruise vacation with your 444 points, you can do the 7 day cruise and a week at WDW?

I've wondered about the Shelbourne Murray Hill. Can you describe your experience and if you thought the points were worth it. Do they offer two bedroom units? If not, how many people can sleep in the one bedroom units. Thanks for any information.
