Anybody ever win anything? I just picked up my annual tickets for stocking-stuffers and the most anyone has ever won from the tickets I've given is $5. I'm hoping someone has better luck this year!

This is the first year DH will get scratchers. I double-bought him an item I didn't know he already had so I sold it locally. With the money, I purchased him $10 in scratchers. He loves them, but never buys them.

DS is also getting 3 scratchers, despite the fact that he is only 16, and our lotterly "strongly discourages" giving minors lottery tickets and/or scratchers.

I hope someone wins something. DH did end up getting the last ticket of a certain theme at the store, so I am hoping it will be a lucky one!

My mother in law them as gifts and she signs the back of all of them " so she will get her share" if you win. Obnoxious, right? That means if you win she has to cash it in. I did once win 5 thousand on a scratch off I got at a work Yankee swap party. It was awesome!! It was a 10$ ticket.

For years, I bought these for my kids' stockings. I would spend about $20 each. Never won a thing. So I finally stopped.

DD won $60 last year on the scratch-offs in her stocking last year. I won $20.

My sister regularly wins $20-100 so we get them every year. It is so fun; she gets so excited, almost as if she won the lottery.

:rotfl:

A lot of people give them at our office party. This year I won $22 and a free ticket. Last year I won $40.

I used to give them. Most weren't winners but one year my cousin won $60 and my uncle won $20 I think.

I buy them for my husband and I as gifts to ourselves. We won $60 last year, so made back the $40 and then some.

My MIL used always get them for us -- I NEVER won anything on those, but DH ALWAYS won something. (good thing I know she loves me!) :rotfl2:

DH and I always get some for each other -- today, I bought $20 worth for him and for our two DSs -- RSZDTRVL, I know what you're saying -- one DS is 17, but he's still getting some. I have this feeling that DH didn't buy me any this year -- we'll see -- so if he wins anything, I'm going to claim my share. Hmmm, maybe I should sign the backs?

DH and I got some from my brother for Christmas this year - I struck out but DH won $15. I LOVE getting them as a gift.

Thanks for the reminder! Just stopped and bought some for stockings.

I would tell her to keep it.

We've done it many times, maybe won a few free tickets here or there. My cousin got one from her niece that "won" $10,000. It was a fake though - gag gift :rotfl2:

We bought 20 of the $1 tickets last year and let the kids (my two, plus their three cousins) scratch them. Four of the kids won nothing, while my nephew won on 3 of his 4 cards, for a grand total of $17. You would have thought he won a million with the way he celebrated. :cool1:

My grandparents used to get them for us for Christmas. One year my brother won 15k and my cousins were mad because they felt he should have split the money amongst all the grandchildren. @@ I was fine with my $2.00 and glad my grandparents got the thrill of giving such a large amount of money to one of their grandchildren. My brother had just bought a house and had a baby so it was a timely gift :)

Yep, DH and I got scratch offs for stocking stuffers. Reading this thread got me really excited and I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so I scratched them off tonight! :goodvibes

We only won $3. Not bad, considering we got 6 $1 tickets. So we got back half of what we spent. It was a good distraction from wanting to open up gifts! Yes, I'm like a kid during Christmas...I want to open presents now! :santa:

Never in my family.

When I was in college the girl that lived across the hall from me told me a horror story about what happened between her sister and an aunt (great-aunt??). Said aunt would give each kid a scratch off, sister won big, $10,000. Her parents were making her put it towards college. Which she agreed. Long story short, aunt tried to sue the sister for half the amount.

Never happening for me.

Update on the scratchers -- we always open one present Christmas Eve. So DH gave me a card with six $1 scratchers in it (he remembered!) -- every one a LOSER. Oh well.

One of my students gave me a scratch off card this year as Christmas gift. It was a winner...$1. :cool1: I'll turn it in and buy another scratch off.
