If You Find Money....

My son found $100 on the floor at a grocery store one time. He was about 6 or 7 years old so I had him take it up to the counter and while we were there the owner came up asking about it. She was the nastiest person in the world she grabbed the money and looked at my son like he stole it from her purse. No thank you or anything I really believe she thought he stole it. I was so sad for my son because that would have been such a great lesson had the lady at least told him thank you for being honest.

I found $100 on the floor of the Imax Theater at the World Golf Village....I turned it into the ticket booth.....3 young guys were working there at the time.....they said if no one claimed the money then it would go to an Arnold Palmer Children's Golf Charity...or something along those lines. As we were leaving I heard them joking about buying pizza and beer......At least I knew that I did the right thing by turning in the money....what happens after that is really beyond my control. I did call back later on to see if anyone claimed the money and the same young man answered the phone......

Once when I was working at a grocery store I found a $100 between two registers. I gave it to my manager who thanked me for being honest and we later found out it was out of one of the tills. Apparently the cashier in question put her large bills under the tray and when she went to turn the till in she forgot to check for any bills clinging to the bottom (good ole static electricity). So the store wasn't out any money and the cashier was not in as much trouble as she could have been.

I found a gift card with a birthday card in the bag. It had been left on a clothing display. I think someone put the bag down to pick up a shirt to look at it and forgot about the bag.

I took it back to the store they bought it at and the guy behind the counter hastily took it without a thank-you or anything. I'm still wondering to this day if he pocketed the gift card.

I've only come across money a few times. Once I was on a date w/ (now) dh, we were playing putt-putt. A couple of guys were ahead of us. We got to the end of a hole and there was a wad of money on the ground. I yelled over to the guys and asked if they lost their money. That was easy to figure out, since they'd just been there & we were the only people there. They thanked us.

Another time we were walking into Big Lots and we saw something on the ground by the door so we sped up a little b/c a young guy was coming up, we got to it before he did.... it was $10... so we're walking all thru the store asking each other "Who lost it?", I went up to an older lady, nope... dh is looking in the toys w/ our boys and he hears a boy about 10yrs old talking to his mom about what he wants to buy and says ask him, so I ask him and sure enough - it was his birthday money. He thanked us and his mom thanked us and she said something to her son about keeping track of his money.

I once found a purse in a cart at walmart and turned it in to the service desk. I didn't want to pick it up, I thought for sure some woman would start yelling "Theif" at me! lol! It was in the parking lot and it was busy, but no one was in the immediate area. I don't know if it was ever picked up.

And a couple weeks ago I found a Limited Too bag in the Disney Store. I turned it in to the ladies working there. They opened the bag and were looking at the clothes... I thought that was a little weird, lol, but whatever. Later I thought maybe I should've taken it to the Limited Too store??

I always think, Why can't I stumble upon a large amt of cash?? But I know if I ever did, something would happen that would cost that exact amount... or more just to prove a point, lol. I have awful luck. And I'd always feel guilty.
