Having just read Sue F's note on the cost of flying first class with Delta thought you might be interested in this:

I drove up to see some mates in the North East last weekend (you know who you are!!) and whilst we were watching the planes at Newcastle Airport and reminiscing on flights to Orlando I thought that maybe flying from Southampton to Newcastle next time might be more cost/time effective.

I did a search for flights and found that the cheapest I could do it was 138 pounds return, however, if I so desired I could also go via Amsterdam for the grand sum of .............

968 pounds return!!

Makes flying to Florida seem cheap in comparison doesn't it!! Think I'll be sticking to my car again next time!!! :)

its like everything else in this country we get ripped off at every turn eg priceline uk what i would have to bid in ££££££££££ i could bid tha same in $ its just not fair is it?

Amazing isn't it Astrid.

While looking for those Delta flights you mentioned I was also amazed at the difference in price on flights depending on where you looked. The flights we looked for ranged in price by over £1000 on the economy seats alone. SOMEONE must be buying these tickets at inflated prices and getting totally ripped off into the bargain. If they can give the lowest fares to one internet site why can they not make this fare available to all?? The airlines own websites seem to be the worst culprit!!

IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL !!!

(Whew....I feel better now)
