If you ever stay in 2311.....

Hey everyone we just got back this past weekend from OKW for 5 nights of a "I wished I was back there now" kind of trip. Anyway the weather was great not too hot, not too cool and just a few showers. One of the first things we noticed was how green everything was in the Disney area. It seems that they're getting more rain this year than in past years. Anyway we stayed in 2322, which has a new showerhead in the Master bath thanks to a call to maintenance. The old one wouldn't adjust no matter what you did to it.
Back to the topic. For at least 5 days one of the cereal bowls from 2311 was used as an ash tray and left on the porch table all week. I don't know when I've seen that many cigarette butts in one container. So if you ever stay there give the bowls a big sniff before you use them. I don't have anything against smokers but all I could do was shake my head on this one.
I've posted some photos from our new Digital camera if anyone is interested. I'll be posting more soon.

Building 23 is suppose to be a non-smoking building!
Also just back and from NC too

Linda

Love your pictures!

thanks for the warning!

was your room a 1-bedroom or a 2-bedroom?

When we checked into the Grand Floridian in 10/99, I went out onto the patio (first floor) and there was a water glass with coke in it with cig butts swimming around. YUCK!!!! The housekeeper came in to hang our robes and I handed it to her! They should have checked the patio when cleaning the room.

Loved your pics. Where was that "neat Mickey"?
Diane...that "neat Mickey", as I recall, is at I-4 and the "World Drive" intersection. I get a little confused, but I'm almost positive that when we headed South away from Magic Kingdom area on the main drive, we went down to I-4 and it's on the northwest "corner" of that interchange. It's actually part of some sort of power station there.

We saw it on our way out to Tampa, so that's why I'm pretty sure it was on I-4.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting. We've been back from OKW less than a week and I'm already 'homesick'.

LindaDVC - It seems as if non-smoking means inside the building only. Almost every time we've stayed in a non-smoking building, there's been someone either downstairs or next to us smoking. :(

Grateful-
YUCK!! That sounds like something my brother-in-law would do(hence he has never been invited to go with us to WDW!). Glad you had a great trip. Did you drive? We are your neighbors(in Lexington) and we usually drive. We've been home a little less than 2 weeks, and your pictures made me want to go back tomorrow!

Great Pictures and Thanks for Sharing! Let me ask you this, firstly, did you request building 23 ? Or just near HH or so? Also, how would you compare Building 23 with the building right across the lake Building 62? I have requested both of those specific buildings because I want that particular view (of course I know they are requests). I'm leaning more towards 62 due to the elevators and we'll have our parents with us. Please tell me what you think.

Also, were the trees an issue with your view? It seems like perhaps they were a bit in the way (as I remember from previous stays looking at the building from across the bridge).

Great pictures.....I thought you may have taken one of the bowl with the butts in it!!! LOL!!!

My trip "home" won't come soon enough........

I have had the problem with smokers on the balconys of non-smoking units too. I can't go out on our patio when that happens. Has anyone ever asked if non-smoking means outside the units too? I would assume it does!!

I'll confirm the location of the Mickey power tower. It is on I-4 west of the exists for WDW (towards Tampa). We usually come in that way because we visit friends there on our trips. It becomes the first sign that you are nearing the "world" . . . Always a good feeling!!

Grateful11,

Thanks for the pics!! We will be down there in 9 days!! :bounce:

Hi again,
To spiceycat: Ours was a 2 bedroom. I think 2311 is a one bedroom. I'm guessing but I think they had at least 6 in it.

To dianeschlicht: Granny is correct. It was the first time we had seen it. We were headed to Tampa to visit the Apple Computer store in The International Plaza. We had never been to one, there's only about 4 in the whole southeast. We almost came away with one of the new eMacs but the box was just too large with everything we had to take back to reality.

To rbuzzotta: I started to but didn't.

To SnowBunny: Yes we requested building 23 because of the close location to the pool and about everything else. We're thinking of taking my parents and my Aunt and Uncle next year and I think we'll try to get into one of the elevator buildings. I've never stayed in 62 but I think it would be great for the elderly. My son is able to walk 5-10 minutes at a time without too much trouble so he can handle 2 flights of stairs but 3 just about gets him down. He has CMD, Congential Muscular Dystrophy, and can handle his self pretty good at school and around the resort parking lots but for the parks we have to have his chair. I've threatened to take my pruners several times but I don't think tree pruning by members would go over to well. :-)

Thanks everyone for the the photo praise. These Digital cameras are addictive.

Thank you for replying Grateful, but I forgot to ask were you in a "dedicated 2br" or a "lockoff 2 br" Thanks for your help.

For some mindless trivia...

I believe the power co that owns that area actually refers to that as the "Reedy Creek Power Station..."

It was a dedicated 2br.
