why not? And what would be your suggestions for improving it?

I was surprised to see all the nominees for The Living Seas on the topic about what you dislike the most at each park, coming in under Epcot. I appreciate its value as an aquarium, and just last week hubby and I did the DiveQuest tour where you get to scuba dive inside the Living Seas. This was an awesome experience for me, being my first official dive since my open water certification. So I'm curious what your expectations are/were about The Living Seas, and why they aren't being met.

I find this attraction is misplaced. I feel that it needs more theming maybe some sort of interaction. The best thing about it is the manatees. I don't know. I just feel like it needs more direction, too much roaming.

I have to agree that as an aquarium, Living Seas is great. The themeing is OK for the first time visitor, (it was better with the Sea Cabs) but does get old quick if you have been more than once.

As for the Manatees, I guess they are alright but about as exciting as watching grass grow. Actually grass moves at a faster pace than they do. For all I know they could be a plastic model...I've never seen one move. I suspect there is a reason that some animals become extinct. I, for the life of me, have yet to figure out what thier purpose in life is other than a gigantic snack on the food chain. Just kidding, but does anyone know what they actually do for the eco-system other than eat thier weight in sea weed?

:duck: :magnify: :scratchin

Those are some very pleasant thoughts goofyernmost:rolleyes:

Does it really matter what they actually do for the eco-system? They are a living creature that we carelessly destroy because they get in our way. What GOOD do we do for the eco-system?

I will now get off of my animal loving soap box, thank you for your time.:D

ps, I am not trying to flame you goofy, just posing some more questions.

It used to be my fave ride at Epcot but it seems they are taking all the good parts away piece by piece. I think it's needs some more pizzaz. Maybe theme it with Finding Nemo and Atlantis. Give it a ride again.

The manatees had just been fed while we there and were actually moving around, but we still were very unimpressed with this attraction.

I don't know if it's poor lighting or what, but to us it just looked like a dirty fish tank and lacked direction, etc. I would be fine with it if it were not in DW, but I guess I just expect better there than at my local aquarium (which is actually much nicer and more well done!).

I love the Living Seas, one of my favorites in Future World. However, I would like to see them make better use of the exhibit areas. The large tank is unparalled in beauty and diversity though I did notice this past week that they had thinned out the numbers somewhat....maybe a cost cutting measure to have less mouths to feed and less waste to clean up???

The Living Seas is always on our list - it is a great place to go to slow down and take a breath - something that WDW does not try and teach us to do

To me, things like The Living Seas, Living with the Land, Conservation Station/Rafiki's Planet Watch, One Man's Dream, New York Street Backlot, Pangani Forest Trail, Maharajah Jungle Trek, and Tomorrowland Transit Authority and for example just plain old riding on the Monorail....these are examples of attractions that relax/calm/stimulate different senses then your typical attraction would

Sure some of them need some minor changes and/or investment but I like having the ability to "down gear" at various attractions as does DW and DS#1

thanks

Was there last week with my DS6 & DS8. Having been to New Englsnd Aquarium, not impressed by the big tanks. Where are all the fish? Also, very dark in the tanks, hard to see any fish that are there. Boys excited to see the manatees and dolphins, but after 15 minutes ran out of things to look at. DS8 was hoping disappointed to hear 20,000 Leagues used to be a ride at MK. Would love to see something like that here!
