If I could splurge on one thing it would be to stay one night at AKL (vs. staying at a value or off-site) with a room overlooking the giraffes. That to me would be the ultimate treat (for both myself and the rest of my family).
I am just so grateful that we are fortunate enough to even be able to go to WDW. That is a treat enough for me

Fantasmic Dinner Package isn't that much is it. We were planning to do this. I thought it would be less than 80 for the two of us at the most expensive restaurant choice.

We went to the Fantasmic Package with dinner at the Brown Derby last month and I can't remember the exact cost but it was in the upper 30.00 range per person and that did not include gratuity. We thought it was well worth it! Best crab cakes we ever ate!

Regarding the post earlier about the Segway tours. . .

I did a Segway tour once -- but not of Disney, of Paris! It was a riot -- everybody there knew Paris pretty well (except us, we'd only been there a week) and was taking the tour in order to ride the Segways, not to see the city. People stopped us on the street and wanted to know all about the Segways. It was a riot.

We'll be a bit on a budget ourselves this time 'round (we leave for the World on Sunday) so no real splurges for us this time, but of the ones mentioned we especially enjoyed the Keys to the Kingdom tour and Fantasmic/Brown Derby. If you're going this time of year the Candlelight Processional package at one of your favorite Epcot restaurant is also a great splurge (We like Alfredo's, but Le Cellier, which we tried last year and didn't care for is VERY popular)! You should give yourself a special treat while visiting the Mouse.

My original price of $100.00 is now much lower because I didn't realize it was for 1 adult and 1 child. I believe the cost for a child is only $9.95 plus drink, tax and gratuity.

I would do Cirque. We always skipped it because of the price, and then my parent's bought us tickets as a gift and I realized that it would have been worth every hard-earned penny! It was fantastic and I wish we had done it sooner.

I was in the position in october for MNSSHP. My spluge was a 1 night stay in the Contemporary. I know it might not seem like a splurge for some people but it is expensive for a single parent and something I always wanted to do. The other minor spurges were renting the water mice twice and two MNSSHP's while we were there.

I would have to say it would be one of WDW's special events. I.E....photography in the park, time in the rose garden for wishes, renew vows, the big things!!!

Just mentioned this to my DH - he said Cirque de Soleil. He thinks it would be an awesome show for both of you, but like someone else said, it's pricey and I think it would go over your budget some (and it doesn't include dinner).
I agree with others here that The Fantasmic Dinner package would also be a good idea.

I don't know what type of passes you're planning or when you're planning to go, but here are some add'l ideas:
- Check special events that might be going on during your stay. The Very Merry Christmas Party (at Christmas time) or the Not so Scary Halloween party. - could even be a big pin-trading fest nearby.
- Your passes might already include water parks (if not consider this a special add-on) - if you're going when it's warm enough then hit Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon! I don't know any kids who don't love water and water slides! If you don't want to waste a whole day, go in the early afternoon. There's really cool stuff for the adventurous sort (like swimming w/ the sharks at Typhoon) and I think they might have a pkg deal at blizzard which includes putt-putt.
-I've not been, but have heard good things: Mickey's Backyard Barbeque at Fort Wilderness. (You might want to check the age group there).
- Thinking Outside the box: go to Universal. Depending on time of year, etc. you might be able to buy 1 day for the price of 2 days (AAA discounts are available). I'm just thinking about his love of Star Tours, he should like Spiderman...it's like opening a whole 2 new parks you might not have done yet!
I need to get some shut-eye, but I'll add some more tomorrow.

Cirque du Soleil. Splurged on our last trip, and had two pretty skeptical people with me who had seen other Cirque du Soleil shows on TV and were underwhelmed by them. We all loved the show. All of us finally "got" the whole Cirque du Soleil thing- it was wonderful!

It may be just me but I would go for an extra day. For example. assuming you are already planning on spending 4 days in the park and are flying in.

1. Extra night at a hotel near the airport or on I Drive $40 Via Price Line (Check www.biddingfortravel.com for current winning bids on priceline.)
2. Upgrade from a 4 day to 5 day MYW ticket $16 for both
3. Lunch and Dinner at a counter service resturant $30 for both
4. Breakfast $10

Total $96

Ahhhhh! My own Disney personal tour guide. I think it can set you back about 500.00 a day? Not sure if the price is correct.For this you get front row to all shows and 1st in line to all attractions and prime spots for parades plus more. Now thats Disney magic!
