DD Laura is going in the hospital Wednesday (outpatient) for her annual heart catheterization and heart biopsy. The cath is to check for coronary artery disease which is common in heart transplant patients. We have read that basically everyone transplanted over 10 years ago has some level of coronary artery disease. Laura's transplant was almost 14 yrs. ago and to date they haven't found any but each year the chance is more likely. If CAD is bad enough they would have to do another transplant.
The biopsy is to check for rejection. Her last biopsy that came back showing rejection was when she was in 6th grade and she's in 8th now.
Its always a hard, awful, extremely stressful day. The procedure lasts about 3 hrs. and she's awake but sleepy through it. Then she'll be in recovery for about 4 hrs. before we can go home. My husband is in Colorado working and can't come home for this so I'll be by myself waiting for the results. The consequences of a bad result are so awful that I hate to be alone but I'm too stressed to bring a friend and feeling like I need to carry on a conversation, etc. They can tell me the results of the cath as soon as they are finished. The biopsy results will come back late Wed. or Thurs.
If you could remember us in your prayers and good thoughts that we can both have the strength to get through the day and that we'll get good results on both tests I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks for everything.

I also agree to ask a friend to come as well. Maybe you can even tell them you may not feel like conversing, but would they mind just to be a presence for you. I'm sure they'd be more than happy.
