If you could skip one park... (need suggestions)

We love Hollywood Studios and the shows and Toy Story Land is opening. We want to see that. On the other hand, we only go to Animal kingdom for the Safari, Pandora boat ride if we get a FP, and eat at Yak & Yeti (my favorite restaurant at Disney).

It sounds to me like you'd prefer to go to HS over AK, so that's what you should do.

Hollywood is still the choice until toy story opens up, then you are only going there to go see that part of the park

I am not an AK fan and we have just spent a morning there, the same for the studios but I’d rather spend an entire day at the studios with TSL. We are going in August and *gasp* I plan to skip Pandora. It doesn’t interest me, I can’t ride FOP :crazy2: so it will just be a morning park again for us.

While I love AK- it is probably my favorite- you listed only three things you want to do there. And one of them is a restaurant where you have to pay even more money. To me, that would not be worth $100 per person, per day.

I’d say that if you will be back to WDW in a year or two, then just do Epcot and two days at MK this year, since you splurged on the ability to be close to them.

Maybe do HS and/or AK when you go back and stay at a different resort.

Tough one. We really love DHS, but our favorite rides in all of WDW (EE and FOP) are at AK. No right or wrong answer here....other than to get PH and do both :)

...which park would it be?

We’re planning 5 days, 4 nights next year and going to splurge and stay at a monorail resort. We spend 90% of our trips at Magic Kingdom and Epcot so staying monorail makes most sense.

That being said, since we’re staying at a monorail resort, we want to skip park hoppers and spend three (whole) days at three parks. Travel day to Disney is a resort day, and we leave on a 9:30am flight home.

One day is Magic kingdom and one day is Epcot. We’re having debates about the third day.

We love Hollywood Studios and the shows and Toy Story Land is opening. We want to see that. On the other hand, we only go to Animal kingdom for the Safari, Pandora boat ride if we get a FP, and eat at Yak & Yeti (my favorite restaurant at Disney).

Both HS and AK are half day parks for us and we don’t want to waste a ticket. Whatever park we pick we will spend the day there it’s just picking the park

Thoughts?

We'll be there in April and we have no plans to go to HS. It is totally 'skipable' for us with no FP's available for TSM.

My wife and I skipped DHS the past 2 trips, just not enough there, and we have AP's.
We will visit this trip with Toy Story Land.
AK is my wife's favorite park, sometimes we do that twice instead of DHS once. She would even skip MK if it meant more time at AK.

With a monorail resort, MK and Epcot are given. In your case, I'd likely hit DHS since it's a favorite.

If you have done pandora then pick HS - I think with the new TS land it just makes sense to experience the new land. An option that you may have thought of or not would be to do a split stay - and do a couple days at the monorail resort hit MK and Epcot and then a couple days at a moderate and with the money saved on the moderate just increase your park days so that you can see both parks.

You really need to make a pro/con list for each of the parks in question. The only great restaurant at HS is Brown Derby so if you skip AK then you still do have a good meal option and you could get the fantasmic package. Tough call but i would say that if you have some in your party who would be into the TS land then i would go with HS.

I'd wait and see what else DHS Toy Story Land will have besides the Slinky Dog coaster - if I had done AK already (including Pandora), I'd want to check out Toy Story Land (and you mention the trip is for 2019 so perhaps the initial crowds will not be so bad). But it would be a super tough call for me- I'd probably do whatever it took to add one more park day to the trip so I could do 1 day per park - perhaps renting points (?).

We skip Animal Kingdom. We went there once, and since we don't buy hoppers, there isn't enough that we would like to do again to justify burning a ticket day.

And if my daughter didn't love DHS, we would skip that one too for now.

My choice would be to skip Epcot --- a large park with not many really great attractions. A lot to SEE . .but not a lot to "do". I've skipped it a lot lately because I have been doing short trips with pre-schoolers and I simply feel that Epcot lacks a lot for them (compared to the other parks).

I have a trip coming up in November with a 6yo and 2yo (and the grandparents) and if we have to skip a park, we will skip Epcot because I want to see Toy Story Land and haven't done Pandora yet (last trip was a few months before it opened).

For you, if you have done Pandora, AK seems skippable to me over a brand new Toy Story Land.

For us currently, we would go to Animal Kingdom, and skip HS. Much of HS is still a construction site, and to be honest, Toy Story Land isn't a big draw for us, with our youngest child being 14 now. None of us ride ToT, and 3/5 of the family aren't interested in RnRC. 3 of us enjoy Star Tours, 2 won't. That makes for slim pickings as far as spending a whole day there.

HS is a hard-fast skip, for me, if one needs to be skipped. It was half day for us BEFORE they removed GMR. We go hit ToT, RnRC, Star Tours, One Man's Dream, Launch Bay and maybe Muppets and we get out - hoping to see the March on the way out.

Based on what you wrote, HS seems to be the one you like more. You said you "love" HS, and "only" go to AK for a few things. Plus, you mentioned you really want to see Toy Story. It's really hard to pick one over the other - I know for me, each park has at least a couple of things I really enjoy and would, in an ideal scenario, not want to miss. But you're looking to pick one over the other, so one has to be cut from the running.

Each one has something you like to a certain degree, is what I'm understanding. But I got the impression that HS is in the lead for you and so I'd say go with that one.

In all honesty this is a question you just can't ask others. You clearly know the parks and what is in each of them so if you're set on 3 days of 1 park per day you have all sit down and find out between AK and DHS what you want to skip. And frankly, with all the changes happening in the parks, it's not even worth asking this question until right before FP opens. Make your restaurant reservations at both parks if you need to and decide which park to skip after Toy Story opens and reports come in.

We are skipping HS this time, even though Toy Story land will be open. But if I was staying at a monorail resort, I would do 2 days at MK and 1 at Epcot.

Depends on if the new Toy Story Land will be open. If not I would skip HS, there is not that much to do there right now with so many things closed.
AK is more then a half day for us but if we rush and skip things we can do it in half.
The only things we like to do at HS right now is Rock n Roller Coaster, the Indiana Jones show, the fireworks show and eat at Sci Fi.
We have gone every year though and have pretty much done everything there.
