If you could skip one park... (need suggestions)

...which park would it be?

We’re planning 5 days, 4 nights next year and going to splurge and stay at a monorail resort. We spend 90% of our trips at Magic Kingdom and Epcot so staying monorail makes most sense.

That being said, since we’re staying at a monorail resort, we want to skip park hoppers and spend three (whole) days at three parks. Travel day to Disney is a resort day, and we leave on a 9:30am flight home.

One day is Magic kingdom and one day is Epcot. We’re having debates about the third day.

We love Hollywood Studios and the shows and Toy Story Land is opening. We want to see that. On the other hand, we only go to Animal kingdom for the Safari, Pandora boat ride if we get a FP, and eat at Yak & Yeti (my favorite restaurant at Disney).

Both HS and AK are half day parks for us and we don’t want to waste a ticket. Whatever park we pick we will spend the day there it’s just picking the park

Thoughts?

Do you like rides like Everest, FOP, RR and ToT? If so I would probably pick Animal Kingdom for Everest, FoP and the overall atmosphere. If not I would try HS if it is after Toy Story Land is open just to check out the new area.

Before Pandora, my family (incl my kids) would have no problems skipping AK. But after being there opening weekend last year, it's a must do! And if your visit is after Toy Story Land opens, I'd imagine you'd want to head there too.

If you can't add a day, I would get park hoppers.

I’m probably in the minority but even with pandora we didn’t think animal kingdom was that great. We ended up leaving by 3 pm and had more fun at Hollywood studios.

I'm skipping the studios this trip coming up 6/2/18. The only thing I'm interested in there is ToT. I like the studios ok, but it's not my favorite at all. My DGD15 and her BFF are going to go though. As for me and my BFF, we're going to Epcot again that day.

If I were in your shoes, if I felt those two parks were half day parks and I was not getting hoppers ............ I would probably do Magic Kingdom again and enjoy it while I am staying right there, making my trip very monorail resort/MK focused. It would mean I can enjoy the park more, poke in all the corners, do all the attractions maybe repeat ... leave and enjoy some resort time visiting each, eating there are getting treats & explore.

I would save those parks for a trip with hoppers.

I'd go with DHS. You say you love it, and I think by virtue of TSL drawing crowds, you'll find more lines in the park overall and it'll fill more than just a half day. ETA: And if you do end up spending only a half day there, you can enjoy the beautiful amenities of your resort! If you're going to pay monorail resort prices, you might as well enjoy what they have to offer!

We're doing a similar trip in April--4 nights, 3-day non-hoppers, staying at the Contemporary. The first day, we arrive midday and will enjoy the pool and a night at Disney Springs, with dinner at STK. Then a half day at AK (sleeping in in the morning, leaving by early evening to have dinner at Whispering Canyon), full days at Epcot and MK. I never go without hoppers but it works for this trip and I'm very much looking forward to it!

That is a tough one. You need to evaluate your priorities and how often you go. If every year or few years, do AK. It has the most new stuff. If Less frequently, evaluate the attractions and do the park that appeals to you most. Me, I would skip DHS before AK but I only go every four years.

We don’t like ToT, Everest, and those types of rides. Well, I liked ToT but never again lol scared the crap out of me!

We just got back Saturday after spending a week there. We got parkhoppers but only hopped 4 of the 7 days we were there so we felt like we wasted money. We split the days: half resort/characters breakfast, then half park. On the days we did hop it was MK to Epcot or Epcot to MK.

We go once a year in Feb. We might skip next year but it’s too early to tell. I’m thinking if we get there early enough go to a park on arrival day so we can hit all parks.

Personally I don't actually like HS....it's a skip for me (last time I rode TOT was when I was 15...) It's a skip for me. If you feel as if AK is a half day park (personally I love it), I would plan on doing a 2nd day at MK!

We did a short trip and stayed at the Contemporary... worth it!!! We got park hoppers so we could rope drop at MK every day and did a 1/2 day in Epcot and 1/2 day in HS. I would definitely recommend riding the monorail to a different hotel for a QS meal on your resort day, it's so fun and easy!

My kids were 3 and 15 mos on our last trip and we skipped AK. I would have loved to check out FOP but my kids loved HS. It sounds like your trip will take place after Toy Story Land opens, so you'll have even more reasons to pick HS!

Whatever you end up doing... enjoy!!!

We skipped it on our last trip. There’s only a couple things I enjoy: Kali River Rapids, A Bug’s Life, The Lion King show. I haven’t been there since Pandora. We didn’t see the movie, but we planned a day this time basically because of Pandora. I think I will skip it and spend that day at the pool while my family goes.

We are skipping HS for the first time this trip mainly because we want to avoid the crowds from Toy Story Land. Also, they closed our favorite ride, The Great Movie Ride. I feel like 50’s Prime Time Cafe has become less fun and entertaining. We aren’t thrill riders. There’s nothing pulling us to go there.

We are going to MK 4 days, Epcot 1 day, and my family is going to AK 1 day.

Just from the title I was so armed with my answer: Epcot!

But that doesn't fit your situation at all, so given what you said about your disposition towards the parks I would say I would probably do a second day at MK as several others have suggested.

I would skip HS - only because it seems that you guys like AK and Yak and Yeti is a favorite. :)
Also, with TSL opening Pandora may have better FP chances and wait times.

The way things are now, if I had to skip a park, I would skip HS, as so little remains there that I like. Once Toy Story Land has opened, I'd be curious to see it at least once, so then if I had to skip a park, I'd probably skip Epcot. I almost get the impression that you want people to tell you to skip AK, and you can certainly skip it if you want to, but I go there at least once on each trip. YMMV.

Personally I would skip Epcot, but between HS an HK I would skip HS. Pandora and FoP is too cool to miss and EE almost makes up for missing ToT and RNRC. What I've seen of Toy Story land (lame coaster, Mater clone) doesn't appeal to me.
