If you could only do one character meal which would it be?
I have a 7 year old DS and a 5 year oldDD. While she is definitely into princesses, he of course is not.
So which is best-experience, food etc.... for both

I second that VOTE, Breakfast with Chef Mickey! At the start of your vacation it is a perfect kick-off to a magical vacation!

Chef Mickeys or Donald's Safari Breakfast at AK

Here's another vote for Chef Mickeys. Although our experience was that the food really wasn't great (it was the worst meal we had all week), the character interaction more than made up for it.

Chef Mickeys has the traditional disney characters-Mickey,Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale. Crystal Palace has Pooh and Piglet,Tigger and Eyeore. I would ask your kids which one they'd like to see more and go with that. Also, if you book a late breakfast(say 11:00) you can count it as brunch, eat like piggies and then you won't have to buy lunch later. Breakfast is less expensive than lunch. (Can you tell I've done this before?)

I would vote for Chef Mickeys, but I asked my boys ages 7 and 8 and they said they would choose Crystal Palace. The good thing about Crystal Palace is if you get a reservation for 1 hour before park opening, you can enter MK early, and already be there when the park opens. It is kind of cool to see the MK empty. That is what we did last time.

We have done just about every character meal and the one we always come back to and never miss is Chef Mickey's. It is by far our favorite. We have done breakfast on every one of our trips and dinner on many. We too go for a late breakfast and make it like brunch. We do it on our leaving day so we fill up before we head home and don't have to stop for a while, plus the kids can say their good-byes to the characters.

But hands down, it's Chef Mickey's...

My vote is 'Ohana. Best food, best services, best characters, best location... LOLOLOL.. Can you tell I love 'Ohana??

Another vote for Chef Mickey! It is a great opportunity to get to see the "main" characters. However, Cinderella's Castle was not just a favorite of my daughters. Her brother's thought it was pretty cool too :)

IMO, you can't really lose with any of the ones that have been named.

Chef Mickey's has the worst food in our opinion. But the characters are great and really up beat. It is just a fun way to start a trip.

Ohana's wasn't as loud as Chef Mickey's, we really enjoyed our breakfast there. Stitch is a lot of fun and spent loads of time with all the kids. And sitting by the window will give you a great view of the castle and the volcano.

DD's surprising favorite is Crystal Palace. She is not really that fond of Pooh anymore and wasn't even looking forward to the meal. But once we got there she loved it. The food is good and the characters were very entertaining. They played with the kids and interacted with everyone. Its a nice, bright resteraunt and even with the characters out and everyone having a good time; its not as loud as Chef Mickey's. (we ate lunch there but already know we will try for an early breakfast next time)

We actually do have to make that choice since we are only going to be in WDW for 2 days before we do our DCL cruise. And it's no question ...Chef Mickey's! Our son got to "open Chef Mickey's" on our last trip and it was the most magical moment we have ever had there. Food is okay, not great but it's okay...we go for the atmosphere.
EDIT: We will be doing Kona Cafe for dinner and CM for breakfast. They are the 2 we HAVE to do w/o question. The rest of our short time will be up in the air before the cruise.

We love Chef Mickeys and Cinderellas and do both every trip. We've done others but those are still the faves. If I had to chose one, in your situation with a young son, it would be CM.

We are only doing one character meal this trip and it will definitely be Chef Mickey's. We have had great luck, it is truly the best food we have ever had in our 5 years of disney world. We love it.

DD 17 says Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner, DD13 says Ohana. I would have to say Ohanas as well. However, having said that, we never miss Chef Mickeys either for breakfast or dinner. The atmosphere is unbeatable. Have Fun!

We will be taking DS 4 for the first time and due to the wonderful advice on this board, we are going to try Ohana for character meal.
DS loves Stitch and I have just heard such great things about it.
Good luck with your decision.
