This is our 3rd trip; 1st trip offsite and not on dining plan. Boo Hoo.

We've done...
chef mickey's dinner, o'hana breakfast, boma dinner, coral reef dinner, CRT breakfast, le cellier dinner, princess norway dinner, kona dinner, mama melrose fantasmic dinner...Boma, Kona & MM were 'ok'. Rest were great.

This time thinking Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare...probably dinner because so close in price to breakfast...for a character meal. Kids are 10,8,6.

Also thinking O'hana's for a nice dinner and to revisit the Poly [stayed there last time and LOVED it].

The new TRex looks cool. Youngest is boy and LOVES dinosaurs.

Thanks!!

Our must-do's every trip are: Crystal Palace (breakfast at 8:05 a.m.); LeCellier, Yak & Yeti (after experiencing it for the first time last year we have to go back) and I know, you only asked for 2 or 3, but we have four: Plaza Restaurant at MK.

We love Chef Mickey's and our second choice is 1900 Park Faire. I would also like to try Ohana's, but have heard the menu is not as good as it used to be.

Just a head's up in case you don't know, they are adding a holiday surcharge to buffet meals in the summer. I can't remember the dates but it is on allears and maybe here. That is why we are probably keeping our onsite reservations, for the dining plan since paying out of pocket will be so expensive. We go to a lot of buffets through the week because they are faster and I know my kids will have a variety to eat.

Oy. That surcharge stinks! Maybe I should do non buffet for the non-character meal.

Yak and Yeti is on my list...but I was thinking the CS.

So much to choose from and so little time...

We don't experiment too, too much at WDW...we find our favs & keep going back. We enjoy Mama Melrose at HS, Boma is a "must do" for us on most trips and have also had a great lunch before at Cap'n Jack's in DTD. Whispering Canyon at WL is a fun dinner for the kids...not the best food on property but it's OK and it's definitely a fun atmosphere. The "Skillet" is all u can eat so in that respect it's a pretty good value w/o the buffet surcharge.

For our next trip in May we are branching out to try the new T-Rex restaurant for DS's b-day dinner and the Wolfgang Puck Cafe. I hope we find a couple new favs to enjoy.

Just as a BTW, we tried the Yak & Yeti CS place last year...we were NOT impressed with it at all. It was the worst (and most expensive) Chinese food we've ever, ever had. Total waste of money. We ate it 'cuz we'd paid for it but it was an effort to get it down. It surely does not make me want to drop a wad at the TS Yak & Yeti restaurant.

Have fun planning!!

50'S Prime Time
Teppen Edo ,Tutto or Coral Reef
CP , LTT or Tony's

Ok, 2-3

My #1 by far is Spoodles on the Boardwalk, for dinner (but they also do breakfast and lunch and have a pizza window).

I loved Sci-Fi for lunch last week! Definitely one of my favorites.

And my 3rd, I'd have to say... I loved Boma for dinner but my family didn't, we all loved CRT for lunch last week though.

:thumbsup2

I wanted to try Spoodles last time but couldn't fit it in.

I was the only one that liked Boma's...even parents didn't care for it.

Don't want to spend too much either...forgot to add that...otherwise we'd be doing Le Cellier again...yummo and Coral Reef...Great deals when we were on the DDP.

OK....

what about House of Blues brunch? Worth it?

My goal is $700 for food for 5 of us for the week...that includes ordering pizza, eating some snacks and CS at parks, packing lunches, cooking a little at condo, eating offsite some.....so I'm thinking 2-3 TS meals might kill it....probably have to stick to 2 for now but may splurge on another....I will also buy groceries but not included in this amount as we'd buy groceries at home too! :O)

maybe Lunch is way to go too.... get more bang for buck and all.

Keep 'em coming.

Trish

We did the Hoopty DOO Revue last trip and now it is a must for us. All the food is served home style. If your table runs out of something just ask and they will bring you a new plate (bucket) /Entree/Main Course

Hoop-De Doo Adult Dinner - Fresh Baked Bread, Tossed Green Salad, Baked Beans, Homestyle Fried Chicken, Smoked BBQ Pork Ribs, Corn on the cob, and Strawberry Shortcake. **Check Category Tiers for pricing.

Drinks

Assorted Drinks - Bud Light Draft and Sangria, Unsweetened IcedTea, Apple Juice, Milks, Tea, Coffee - Regular and Decaf; Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, Root Beer, and Orange Soda. Included with the price of the dinner buffet. A beer is usually around $5.25.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=36 We love the show I was picked last trip to be in the show. My girls still give me a hard time. But you get a lot for your money at least we think so. Go to the MK that day then take the wl /fwcg ferry over to fwcg and have fun. Bring a sweater or jacket They keep that place ice cold you could hang meat in there. If im not mistaken it is the longest running dinner show in the states I think it was at frontier land for awhile untill it was moved to fwcg.

Our first dinner is always at RFC, so that's a must for us.

We'd pick Crystal Palace, for the earliest possible breakfast ADR.- This is almost only for the fact that we'd get into the park early and able to take pic's:) and the characters of course.

We'd also pick Chef Mickey's, because it's a tradition and love the characters there. I think we'd do dinner though, because I don't want to miss park time in the morning, but also don't want to get up extra extra early -at least not unless it's to get into MK early.

Hoop de Doo...too expensive but looks great.

RFC...rainforest?

Chef Mickey's...we did this both trips first dinner and we love it. We also love the O'hana Brekkie.

Crystal palace...good idea for getting in early....hmmmm. add to 'maybe' list.

Trish

50s PTC is always awesome
Ohana- This is a fun dinner and the food has always been good when I went
TRex- haven't been but it looks SO fun.

as far as Yak n Yeti- I had the TS last week and wasn't impressed at all. I know some people love this but I paid $40 after tip for food I could have purchased at my mall food court here at home.

Have fun planning!! :)

I've heard so many mixed reviews of sci-fi and most people don't recommend eating at HS in general....so I'm having a hard time with those choices...we did the fantasmic package at MM just to get the tix. I would LOVE to split the Cobb with someone but don't know if I'd have any takers and others might not like anything else on menu. 50's prime time does look like good choices and could be fun.....hmmmm.

I'm thinking of a DTD or Epcot choice for a nice dinner and then probably the 1900 Park Fare because I think the stepmother and sisters might be fun...

I would pick O'hana for dinner but the surcharge really tix me off...or do they not include 'family style' in the holiday surcharge. Or maybe I'll pay the surcharge here and skip a CM this time around....hmmm.

I know we're going to miss a nice dinner every night. I will not miss trying to figure out how to best use my credits and coordinating my schedule to fit the meals I've planned. LOL.

UPDATE:

Leaning towards O'hana dinner; 50's Prime Time lunch; Le Cellier lunch [probably too $$ but mmm mmm]....CM choices: Cape May bkfst, 1900 dinner, Crystal Palace bkfst

which of the above would you pick? or top 1,2,3. Thanks so much!!

Trish

If I were paying OOP, I would try to do lunch TS meals because they cost less. It can be a nice break in the afternoon also. Just my opinion....

Happy Planning!

Jill

BTW, we loved Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, Whispering Canyon and Le Cellier.

We are only doing 3 TS meals on our upcoming trip and we're going with:

Ohana dinner
Teppan Edo dinner
Spoodles dinner

Out of your list I would vote for Ohana, Crystal Palace, Le Cellier. I think you would get a good variety with that.

ok....

did a little spreadsheet..YIKOS.

I included tax and tips and guessed options for my family of 5.

LE CELLIER LUNCH...$125
O'HANA DINNER $150
CAPE MAY OR CRYSTAL PALACE CM BKFST $120
50'S PRIME TIME LUNCH $80

Interesting....

Trish

I would go with 1900 Park Fare Dinner & Ohana Breakfast :) We love the character interaction and the food soo much at both of these places , we go every trip . Good luck with your decision and have a great trip:)
