If You Could Have Picked Your Own Name

I've always felt I should have been a Kate.

(not that anyone was considering that for me, I just feel more like a Kate then I do a Judi. :) )

I was named after my mother's horse who had to be put down about a month before I was born.:( My parents could not think of a name for a girl and my sister said well if it is a girl why cant we call her Kelly Ann. And that is what I became!! My oldest is Tristan Jason and our second is Travis Joshua. I always thought that if we had a girl we would name her Aurora Ann that way her initials would be AAH!!:)

My mother wanted to name me Thadra Edwina. My sister cried for a week or so and begged to name me. (Thankfully!) So my sister named me. But kids always made fun of my first name, so when I was 7 I changed to my middle name, Michelle.

I can't think of any other name that would suit me. I do have my "writing" name though. But I'm the only one that knows that.

My name is Lori Michelle. My parents wanted to name me Dawn Michelle but somehow in the delivery room it was changed. I have always hated my name. I guess now I've grown into it and much prefer Lori over Dawn but I always wanted a name with a nickname possibility and Lori just doesn't have that.

So, with my daughters I chose names with many many nickname options. Matalyn Amara and Charlotte Aurora. Matalyn is 3 and loves loves loves her name. I know it may not always be that way, but for now she is Matalyn and does not like to be called by a nickname. Charlotte is too young to care but already her name gets shortened to lots of things Charli, Sharli, Carli you name it, this kids been called by it! Funny how that goes, Matalyn never seemed the nicknamey type and Charlotte just does.

My name is Mary Margaret. Not Mary, not Margaret, but both together. I hated it is a kid. I saw a scifi movie and the heroine was called Juliandra. That's what I wanted to be called. I still think it is a beautiful name. Or Angela, that was my other favorite name. That was my mother's name, actually Angelina, but I loved that more than my own. When I grew up I wanted to be a Marissa. That is such a beautiful name too.

I really love my name but I thought my name was Mishell Jeanna Brandee, my mom would yell all 3 of our names at each of us LOL. I have been called Shell by almost everyone who knows me my whole life. My nephew who is 3 calls me Aunt Sue ( we still dont know why ! ) so now some of my family is calling me SUE ????go figure..........
DH is James but he goes by Toby , DD is Whitney but goes by Whit, DS Derick now goes by the name my 3 yr old nephew calls him Dereeka???? I have no idea why he wants to call us strange names .Then again he is Brennan and we all call him B-Man

Wishing everyone a tagged night

I used to hate my name (Rebecca Brooke) but now I think it's kind of pretty. I think if I could choose I'd be Elizabeth (shortened to Beth), Colleen, or Juliana though.

My mom would've found a way to convince me to be Shannon regardless.;) I jokingly told her 1 time I thought about changing the spelling of my name and she about had a cow.:teeth:

I don't know what other name would fit me.

I'm Margaret Mary but my mother wanted to name me Julie Anna. :p LOL! Kinda just like you. :teeth: But, like I said earlier, I go by Maggie and I like it. :) I would have liked Julie Anna (as one name, not first and middle names :) ) much more than Margaret! :p

I'm Jennifer Marie.
I was named after the song "Jennifer Juniper", because my Dad loved it. He wanted my middle name to be Juniper. My mother thought Jennifer was bad enough - there was no way she was letting her daughter have a middle name of Juniper :p She wanted to call me Hillary or Jenna.

I've always disliked my name. It just doesn't suit me at all. And you wouldn't believe the number of times I've been called "Jessica".

Growing up, I wanted to be called Emily or Bethany.

My name is Lisa and I've always liked it. My middle name was supposed to be Diane but was changed at the last minute to Glynn after my Dad's middle name - Glen. I didn't like it growing up but now I love it. My niece was also given Glenn for her middle name. I really could have ended up with an unusual name, my mother is Mattie and her sisters are Vida and Syble. They are lovely Southern women.

I was named after my grandmothers Mary and Katherine (I always figure I got lucky!). I just wish they'd gone nontraditional and switched the order since I've always gone by a nickname of my middle name. It's amazing how much confusion that can cause.

I always hated Tina growing up. It's not Christina or anything, just Tina. It is actually Tina Marie (UUGHH!) and that's what my mother wanted everyone to call me. My grandma told her that it was too much name for a little girl and shortened it to Tina. I'm named after my mom's exboyfriend's sister (shh, don't tell my dad, he doesn't know:D )I alsways wanted something that sounded pretty. I've always liked Julieanne, but that's not what I named my daughter. She is Delainie Anastasia. Anastasia is an old family name.
Thank Goodness I wasn't named for my grandma, She was Minnie Pearl!
BTW: I had a friend growing up whose name was Champagne, her sisters name was Sherrie and her brothers were Jim (bean) and Jack ( daniels). There was another sister too but I can't remember her name.

Tina, I have a cousin who is a Christina Marie, but she always goes by Tina. :)

I like my name well enough, Michelle Anne. Anne as a middle name has been passed down in the family, interestingly enough in my husband's family as well, so it was a natural that my daughter Samantha got Anne as a middle name as well.

Interesting how many Michelles are out there! I was a Shell too growing up and certain people still call me that. :)

When I was a kid I used to bug my parents to change my name to Karen, but now that I am older I would have preferred to be named Elizabeth.

But, with that being my Grandmothers name it would have been highly unlikley I would have gotten it too. I got her middle name for my middle name Ann & I got my Mothers middle name for my first name Auriel. Can't say I like it, I don't , never had, but everyone else seems to;)

When I was younger and at school I used to hate my name because everyone asked if I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up just like Florence Nightingale. But now I really like it cause it is unusual and people tend to remember you because of it.

My mom wanted to name me Heather but my father didn't like it- and for as much as the loser has seen me in 35 years I can't believe he got the power of veto!

My name is Lorelei and nobody can ever spell it or pronounce it.
