We bought AKV without touring. Our guide actually talked us out of buying BLT...

Just out of curiosity, why did your guide advise you not to buy at BLT?

We bought without ever seeing/staying at AKV. In fact, stayed at GC and BLT twice before staying at AKV. I think part of the fun of DVC is being able to stay at other places so it wasn't really important to us. Looking forward to either BC or VWL next.

I really like the idea of trying to incorporate DVC tours into our meals. So here's the plan:

Since we are staying at BCV we will walk over some night to have dinner and hopefully check out BWV. One morning we plan to go to Downtown Disney so we will walk over to SSR for a bit. Have already stayed at OKW. We have dinner reservations at Boma so that will tie into AKV. That just leaves VWL and BLT... sounds like a fun monorail/boat expedition to me! Phew!

We bought site unseen at BWV in 2002 (resale) and added on at BWV in 2003
(through Dsiney) and never looked back.
We knew what we wanted and didn't need to tour them all.

Same here. We bought BWV as resale first without having seen it. Then we added on at VWL and then AKV when that was announced. We love all 3 for different reasons. We'd stayed at WL and AK before purchasing the villas there so we did have some idea of what the locations would be like.

Well, as soon as I heard about BLT, I knew it was for us

I had been considering DVC for years, and always felt that if they built a DVC resort on the monorail line, we would purchase, and we did!

I probably would have bought at BLT sight unseen, but we happeneed to be going on a trip to the World around the same time that they were starting to sell BLT. We did the tour, but I knew we would have purchased there regardless . . .

Still, if you are undecided, I think seeing the resort is a good idea. Having done a split stay at SSR and BLT after we purchased (we got an 8 night stay at SSR as an incentive), I am happy SSR is not our home resort b/c the extra space at BLT in the 1BR is great for us . . .

There's a resort for everyone, and I would love to tour the resorts anyway!

This was us. We looked into it prior to BLT and just didn't want to be anywhere other than the CR location. Once that became a reality, we were all in and do not regret it one bit!!!

Nope, I bought resale. The experience was great. AND I saved tons of money I don't plan my vacations more than 7 months out so Where I stay at Disney doesn't really matter..I'm just happy to be AT Disney!

we bought BWVs after fabulous stays there.
figured BCVs would be similar, so added on. a few vacations after purchase and we found we just didn't care much for the BCVs (beautiful, but even "quiet areas" too noisy and busy for our tastes).

we plan on staying at BLT before we add decide whether to add on there or more at the BWVs. we learned our lesson the hard way (on the positive side, we do either use the BCV points at the BWV'S slower times, or rent them out).

We bought at VWL because we fell in love with that resort the first time we saw it. When we finally were able to afford buying DVC we knew that would have to be our "home".

I am still undecided about where to add on though. I really fell in love with BWV after staying there recently. Love the location, food options, pool bar, even the clown slide!! But I want to try out a few more resorts before I make that final decision. I know which ones I would not like, but I have a couple more I want to actually STAY at before I buy more points.

DH and I bought at AKV sight unseen. It was a sign for us when I walked in the restroom near EE at AK and saw that the tile was the same pattern we had just put in our home. The decor there makes us completely comfortable and relaxed....and DH just will not try out the other resorts

We have no regrets and love that we are part of DVC.

If you could do it all over again, would you take a day to tour all the resorts? We purchased sight unseen at AKV (I have been to Boma so I knew a little about the resort) but we are looking to add-on soon. I am seriously considering spending a day touring all the resorts to figure out what we like best.

That being said, I am quite familiar thru the DISboards of the amenities of each resort and I have seen enough pictures and videos to have a basic idea of what to expect. Did anyone do this (tour the resorts prior to deciding)? I am just wondering if it is really worth taking time away from our vacation to tackle this agenda! WWYD?

As a matter of fact, we DID tour all the DVC resorts that were available when we purchased. Of course, that was only OKW and BWV at that time. We chose OKW because we didn't like the layout or small units at BWV. Then we had many years of those same style units being built at several more DVC resorts. We did buy more points when AKV came on board, but we aren't thrilled with the layout there either. It's still significantly better than the BWV-SSR layouts, but the size isn't good.
