If You Could Design a Disney Resort....

I am not picky just install a hottub at the Poly and I would be happy.:goodvibes

I'd like to see a resort that pays homage to the British contribution to Disney -- there have been so many British writers whose books have been turned into Disney movies.

My ideal resort would have four themed sections:

The Wind in the Willows, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland -- with all buildings surrounding a park designed to resemble Hyde Park. In the park they could have statues of Disney figures in poses designed to mimic the statues in Hyde Park, vendors selling ice cream and balloons, etc.

Wind in the Willows Theme -- the main check-in building could be a lavish mansion-type building called TOAD HALL. The main dining area could be called Toad's Banquet Hall. As an added bonus (and something different for Disney) they could put the old "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" into the main building.

Mary Poppins & Peter Pan -- each would be a row of buildings, similar to the Boardwalk, on either side of Toad Hall, designed to look like Victorian-era London. (picture cool, old-fashioned lamp posts.) There could be a "Mermaid's Lagoon" pool for the Peter Pan side -- complete with a slide that mimics Wendy's fall into the lagoon. And a "Jolly Holiday" pool and playground for the Mary Poppins side, themed to look like a fair in the English countryside.

Alice in Wonderland -- This section could be a grouping of little cottages -- similar in idea to what you get at Fort Wilderness with the trailers -- but designed to look like the English countryside.

For room service, instead of a tray of food, the food could come in picnic baskets, so families could take them out to the park to eat. There could be areas around the resort with gazebos, for this purpose, as well.

These are just four Disney stories that I am partial to -- and I would certainly stay at this resort!

The Grand has Wind and the Willows as well as Alice in Wonderland themed rooms. Well, not really themed but you can find hints of the characters in the wallpaper and bedspreads.

I was gonna mention the Venician, Mediterranean, Greek, and Persian resorts, but those were in the progress before in early Disney (minus Mediterranean), so I'll just skip those. So my first idea is...

Disney's Grand Royalty Resort

It would be like a princess resort, and it would be divided into seperate buildings, much like CBR & CSR, but they wouldn't be nearly as spread out. The location would be along the walkway from CR to MK. The resort would have it's express monorail just between GRR and MK, along with a private walking path.

The main hub is Cinderella's Castle. It has check in, the Royal Banquet (24 hour counter service much like F&FC, Captain Cook's, and Gasparilla), and attached to the Royal Banquet would be the Jousting Arena, which would be the 24 hour arcade.

Cinderella's Castle would only be 4 floors. First floor is the Royal Banquet, Jousting Arena, check in, and longue area. Second floor is the suites, and the third floor is conceirge. The fourth floor would be an observation deck with seating for the fireworks. Also, on top of the fourth floor would be monorails to all parks and water parks and DTD.

Now split off of Cinderella's Castle would be 12 buildings. Snow White's Cottages, Aurora's Castle, Jasmine's Agrabah Bazzar, Ariel's Underwater Grottos, Alice's Garden Homes, Belle's Enchanted Village Houses, Pocahontas's Virginia Longhouses, Mulan's Chinese Village, Maid Marian's Forest Castle, Nala's African Pridelands, Megara's Mt. Olympus Suite, and something involving Tiana (for those of you who don't know, she's the princess in the 2009 Disney animated film "The Princess & the Frog")

Snow White's Cottages, Alice's Garden Homes, & Belle's Enchanted Village Houses would be somewhat of DVC things, and they would have their own kitchenettes & stuff. Kinda like Fort Wilderness, I suppose.

Megara's Mt. Olympus Suite would have conceirge services, and be secluded from everything else. It would be a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite, and there would only be 1 of them.

Nala's African Pridelands would be 3 different buildings, and they would all be garden views with standard Deluxe size rooms. Kinda like the Garden wings in CR, but a lot better theming (there would be Tribal Masks hanging in the hallways, African paintings in the rooms, animal prints on the pillow cases, etc.)

Mulan's Chinese Village would be similar to Nala's African Pridelands, but there would only be 1 building, and all of the African scenery and trinkets would be replaced with ancient Chinese artifacts (such as like Terrakota (spelling?) soldiers throughout the hallways).

Ariel's Underwater Grottos would be 4 buildings similar to Mulan and Nala's buildngs, but the walls would be painted deep blue and green, and there would be like fake seaweed hanging from the ceiling and other underwater themeing.

Finally with all of the similarites, Pocahontas's Virginia Longhouses would be 5 one-story "longhouses" with Native American apparel all around the hallways and in the rooms.

Tiana's thing would be something involving the movie, which isn't out yet, so I'm not gonna go into it.

Jasmine's Agrabah Bazzar would be somewhat of a busy market place. There would be a limited number of rooms, which have a decent view of the Magic Kingdom and some connecting rooms, and those would be on the third floor. The second floor would have gift shops and the Persian Food Market, which is another 24 hour counter service place. The first floor would have 2 table service restauraunts, the first would be Kolbeh, with exotic Iranian and Middle Eastern food. The second would be Romance Inn with Jasmine and Friends. It would contain a few princess and their respective princes for character meals, but serves a more kid appealing American cuisine.

Finally, we have Aurora's Castle and Maid Marian's Forest Castle. These two castles are somewhat connected, but they are very close to each other. Maid Marian's Castle is a forest castle which is decorated with somewhat of a medieval feel. These rooms are water view, with views among Bay Lake and the Contemporary, or the Seven Seas Lagoon, possibly catching a sight of Cinderella's Castle. The rooms are not suites, but they are more priced than the garden view rooms. Aurora's Castle is a little different. It has similar themeing and rooms and views, but on top is the entrance to the slide. It has a rustic feel and is very long, and the slide goes down 5 stories, and you land inside the pool! Yeah, that's right, the pool is right outside of Aurora's Castle. There are 2 parts, there's the Moat, which is a lazy river that circles around the whole resort, and then there is the pool, which has the best slide in all of WDW, which starts from the 5th floor of Aurora's Castle. It is zero entry and has 4 hot tubs attached. The pool is very kid friendly, and has things along the side as crocodiles shooting water as people swim by, a fountain in the middle that keeps the pool flowing and the water level at a safe rate, and a giant bucket that dumps water onto guests right outside of the pool every hour. Also every hour is a "waterworks" thingy, which is kinda like mini fireworks, but with water squirting into the pools.

That's about it :)

Aurora's Castle, Maid Marian's Forest Castle

I think a Taj Mahal typed themed resort would be super - bright white stone, tall spires, open courtyards, treatment suitable for royalty and CM's dressed in full Indian period dress

thanks

I love that idea!
and make it a MOD so that I can afford to stay there!:thumbsup2

I was thinking a The Incredibles resort based of Disney and Pixar The Incredibles. Maybe a value resort.

I am not picky just install a hottub at the Poly and I would be happy.:goodvibes

I like this idea.....this is the best yet.

After completion of the poly hot tub.........how about an INCREDIBLE resort built to an INCREDIBLE size. Swimming in an INCREDIBLE pool. Drinking Frozones and Jack, Jacks and Coke......:lmao:

If you could get the rights from Hanna Barberra you could have caves. The TV's could have a little terradactyl inside running in a wheel:rotfl2: The giftshop could sell bear hides with Mickey on them. Maybe something with some bones too...:rotfl: I think I am just overtired:lmao:

we think alike. just read this after i posted. :rotfl:

I was thinking along the lines of an entire Animation themed resort. It could have the incredibles as one oif it's themed areas. Staying away from ASMo themes though...

Make it a moderate with an upgraded feature pool with "lands" themed to the various major animation milestones off of the main hub. I think I may have mentioned before that I'd like it to have it's own entrance in to toontown :-) (this thread is 4 years old with another section 2 years old, I should go back and reread them all)

If they expanded MGM Studios over the road and made an Animation Land, this resort could be connected to that land as another option.

I've been thinking of realistic resort that would be fun and I've come to the conclusion that a western theme would be cool. It would be easy to have the cutesy-fun areas for kids, and some relaxed, romantic feel for adults.

We just returned from our Pop stay last month, and after sitting in the DSA's every night looking across the lake at the unfinished structures, we started thinking about what Disney should do with it.

PSA:
Please, no flames for this. I am a smoker, but a respectful one, and I understand the policy, etc., but this is purely a suggestion, so non-smokers, I mean no offense and let's not turn this into a debate. Thanks!

Make it an adults-only resort. Yes, I have children so no bias to others who do, and I know Disney is all about families, but how many couples come to Disney without children? Lots!

Make it the only smoking resort on property. If it's only adults, and let's face it, if you keep the theming of the 1900s to 1940s, um, everyone smoked, did they not?! Even those who didn't smoke put ashtrays out for those who did who might be stopping by.

You know, sometimes, you want to come back from a long, tiring day at the parks and just relax. You don't want to hear the tired, cranky kids next door while you're trying to sleep. OR, better yet, you want to relax in your SMOKING room and not have to go outdoors in the RAIN in your jammies 100 yards away. In an adults-only place, you don't get that. Believe me, I mean no disrespect to those with cranky kids - I have 2 of the crankiest, but I'm just sayin'... I don't know if enough adults would agree that this is a good idea, but I like it.

I say price it and design it at a moderate level so those who are used to staying deluxe and WANT to smoke won't feel so downgraded, and those who can normally only afford value won't feel so overwhelmed.

I don't know, just a thought.
