We can schedule only one dinner at US/IOA or at the Universal Hotels. Any suggestions or comments (positive or negative) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You can eliminate Universal. Lombards is okay but there is better.

IOA is my first choice, eat at Mythos. Delicious food and beautiful surroundings. Service is the best! Be sure to give the warm gooey banana cake a try.

CityWalk for a meal at Margaritaville. Fun place with good food! Excellent drink specials. Try the Cuban Meatloaf.

Portofino, I would pick Mama Della's if in the mood for Italian. Lots of fun and very good food. This will also be nice to walk around the property after its really beautiful.

There are so many places to eat to have to pick just one but these would be my picks!

Hope you have an enjoyable meal where ever you decide!

If I could schedule only one dinner, it would without a doubt be at MYTHOS

Mythos for certain. Hey we love it so much that on our last trip we went back the next day from US to eat there again

You and Barry Hom have said the exact same thing, What is wrong with Universal Food?

I love the BBQ Pork sandwhichs at Cafe La Bamba and the Personal Pizza at Monster Cafe. I love the burgers at Richter's. I enjoyed the Seafood at Captain Quint's. I don't know, its your opinion as well as Barry's on the quality of the food at Universal. However when you say "eliminate Universal" because you didn't like something is just a tad harsh.

OK!
you've convinced me. DH and I will be staying at the RPR 9/11-9/14. How soon can I call for PS at Mythos ! Thanks

The only "problem" you may encounter is dining at "dinner" time...I don't think anyone has mentioned here the shorter hours that Mythos has, they tend to only be open until 3 or so on days when the park closes at 7 (which it looks like that will be about the time they will close when you're there). They ARE a must do...so if you can get in there when they're open, I would definitely do that!

USO...I think what they were saying was that as far as good places to go for dinner, USF doesn't really have much to offer for the sit down diner.
Personally, I don't eat at Universal Studios...But were it not for Mythos, I probably wouldn't eat much in IOA either...there are some good fast food options in both parks, but for someone looking to schedule ONE dinner (and the assumption that is drawn is that they don't want a quick burger or pizza from a counter service spot)...there aren't many options in either park, IMO.

Thanks, Ms Disney

But , can I get a PS for lunch and how far in advance could I do it? Six months like Emeril's ? ninety days? Thanks, again

You can make priority seating...I think it's 60 days out, but in all honesty, the time of year you're going, I wouldn't worry about needing them, especially if you dine there on the weekdays. I would leave your options open, I find dining on a schedule to be a bit restrictive...and if you avoid PEAK lunchtime, you definitely won't have to worry! (ie, 11 or 2 or so)

It depends a bit on what you like to eat. But I would agree with JessiacR, don't eat in Universal Studios for your "one meal".

IOA: Mythos: Excellent food and service. Very resonable $$. A bit "gourmet" but not fussy. They have things like Risottos, specialty pastas, Pork chops, seafood, wrap of the day, etc. Excellent childrens menu of hamburgers, spagetti, chicken etc. Dittos on the warm banana gooey cake! Defenitely check the hours of the day you want to go. Perhaps eat there for a long lunch instead of dinner.

Portofino Bay Hotel: Mama Della's; excellent Italian food in a very cozy and family friendly atmosphere. Usually an Italian Mama walking around to talk to people. Sometimes strolling violin players and an Italian singer. Try the marshmallow milkshakes. Don't miss the timarasu.

City walk: Margaritaville is terrific, potential long waits. Nachos are enough for 2 people. Margaritas are pretty standard but the mango flavoured one is delicous!!!
Also, Hard Rock Cafe is fun. Pretty noisy, but many cool things to look at. Fairly standard food. There is "back entrance" to this place from Universal studios, go through the Nicelodeon part of the park. Long waits at lunch and dinner. Try to eat a little before or after the usual times.

Sounds like Mythos is a popular place, but I was disappointed that they closed so early. The park is open until 10 PM while we are there. Does anyone know how late Mythos will stay open?
Thanks.

When the park is open that late, they tend to be open until at least 7pm, of course...sometimes they have special events and such, so definitely check with them during the time you plan to visit to see if any events are scheduled so you can work around that night...

USF's food is not that great. The Beverly Hills Bouligerie does have some great sandiwches and large cookies. Monster Cafe is good. Ritcher's has some decent burgers. The worst is Mel's Diner. Unless you're getting a milkshake, avoid the food here. It's quote gross!

How is it that Universal's food is gross, but Mythos and IOA's food is great?

USO, I believe the poster was saying the the food at Mel's Diner is gross, and we all understand that this is his own opinon, not an official proclamation.

If you had to choose one meal, yes it would be Mythos.

We also haven't found USF food to be gross. Our Richter's burgers are always very good and we've had lunch at the little diner that is on the right hand side as soon as you enter the park and it's been very good. We've never eaten any where else there.

MYTHOS OF COURSE FOR THE "ONE MEAL ONLY AND IT HAS TO BE GOOD!" CROWD

:smooth:

I think NBA City is by far the best if you are looking for something casual. If you want a better dinner, try The Palm in the Hard Rock Hotel. Very expensive, but very good.

Just wanted to agree with many of the other posters and say without a doubt Mythos! We ate there on our last trip and LOVED it. We actually had an early lunch and were full until late that evening. The atmosphere is great and the service was wonderful not to mention the delicious food! We have also been to NBA Cafe and to Nascar Cafe and like them both but still thought Mythos was the best by far!

USO2003,

Since the OP asked for "ONE" place to eat I eliminated Universal. Nothing spectacular grabs me at that park. If I had to pick one meal I would NOT have it at Universal, thats all. I don't think saying eliminate Universal for your one meal was harsh at all:) Most peoples request for "one meal" would be a dining experience that includes good food with some scenery not just a grab a burger type place with so-so food. I totally agree this is just my opinion!

Since you asked....What is wrong with Universal's food I will answer. At Monster Cafe we were served cold food not to mention the spaghetti my son ordered was really gross! Like someone poured a can of tomato soup on top of overcooked pasta, yuck. I did like the atmosphere but I want atmosphere with good food. Have had many a burger at Richter's...okay its a burger nothing earth shattering;) (pun intended) The only other experience I can remember was at Animal Crackers...I got sick.

I dont go outta my way to bash the food at Universal or even say eliminate it all together, unless its a request for ONE dining experience.
