We are going to VB in April and I'm starting to dream of that vacation. Now I know that there are only 6 BC and I'll get the one that's open. BUT if you had the chance to choose.... which one? Or what one would you not want? Views?

From north to south...

1) 1150 - The furtherest north near the campfire.
2) 1250

3) 1450 - This one's right next to the pool! So convient but is it too noisy?
4) 1475

5) 1550 -
6) 1575 - This one is furthest to the south near the empty lot which could be very nice or it could be a constuction site of the new condos.

Great question!

I was dreaming of our BC vacation coming up in June. I sure hope my family understands that although we're in a BC, we just can't walk onto the beach, have to protect the dunes. So, strictly from that point, I would go with the 2closest to the beach access. Now, I think M Gracey has mentioned which have the best views, I hope he chimes in to state his favorite one.

We have stayed in 4 out of 6, and without question we like the two far end cottages. According to your numbers, that would be 1150 and 1575.
The privacy is awesome, and in my opinion, the landscaping is also the nicest.

We have stayed in both 1150 & 1575, but that was pure chance. We always request one of those, but with only 6 cottages there really is no way to honor requests unless you hit it lucky. :smokin:

Yes, I agree with my fellow Red Sox/Adenturer's Club homeboy...the two far cottages (I think we are talking about the same ones) near the campfires are beautiful. I think the ones nearer to the pool are two noisy, although handy to restaurants in the inn itself. I stayed in a one-bedroom directly behind the grand villas, and I really thought that someday it would be cool to stay THERE, RIGHT THERE.

We were just there in July. We had 1150. The location is nice and quiet, but we really wished we had 1250. 1250 had a clear view of the ocean whereas 1150 had vegetation growing up obstructing the direct view.

Another great thing about 1150... Parking.
Although the cottage is quiet and secluded, parking is very close. It's a straight shot from the parking lot, as shown in lisareniff's map.
You can't really see or hear the lot, but it's right there. :smokin:

1475
Close to the beach, pool, etc.

No noise, parking beneath building 14, and a great location!

Just stayed there the other week!

They all seem great!

I think with younger children it might be nice to be closer to the pool/beach entrance but thinking 1450 might be too close. I could see it being too noisy/busy during the day if you just wanted to chill. Maybe 1450 or 1275 would be good compromise.

:sad2: Oh... and then she asked "which color Mercedes do you think I should get?"

:rotfl: Just kidding... You know I luv ya. :flower3:

If I had a choice, I would not choose either of the 2 by the pool. Just way to much foot traffic going by.

Is it true that the chances that you could book a BC at 7 mths out is slim to none???? I am already planting the seed we need a small add on here! We are hoping to include VB with our June trip..however the once anti-DVC DH is now taking over and starting to plan a Grand gathering!!lol I would be happy to get in with a 2 bdr and 2 studios:)

You can't beat them for the convenience. They worked out well for our group.

The teens/college kids hung out mostly on the front porch and deck while the adults used the ocean facing back decks. Noise wasn't a problem but you do have added foot traffic which didn't bother us.

We also had some grade schoolers in our group so being close to the pool and mini golf was important to them.

If I could choose, I would take one of the end beach cottages just for privacy. No matter which one though, it's hard not to fall in love with them!

I think your chances vary with the season that you are trying. We had a vacation at VB this past March, let's say around the 20th, and I met a fellow coming out of a BC on an errand to have a wine bottle opened (there IS something about a BC lending itself to adult drinks) and he told me that he had only booked it 3-4 months out, and it was only because he was trying to book a few villas, and the MS CM suggested the BC!

Now, I booked day by day 11 months out for our June '08 BC. Did I have to? I don't know. I know that a Friday Saturday night stay in one in June is way to rich for our point allotment, so no weekend stays in one for us!

I had a great advisor yesterday and she said to call back and try...however with all the people we would have...I cannot imagine moving out after 2 nights..We do have some DIP to burn so..I still have abt 2 mths to figure out what/where/how...lol!
Have a great trip to AKV!! Can't wait to hear...we are doing the studio SV in Feb!
Thanks for the info!

I can only say that our stays have been during Easter week and 4th of July week so an 11 month day by day reservation was a must. I think if you could book dates outside of school/major holidays, your chances are better. I would still try to book day by day though.

There is also the option of booking the weekends on cash. I have an extra night reserved on cash with the member discount for April (Regular Season). I called about 10 months out to ask and they had both weekends available. Still pricey but a lot better then the number of points needed.

DisneyBride that may be an option for you as well. You could call about the member discount at any time - not waiting for 7 months.

My dh told me to look into a cash night(s) as well but I thought it would be way too much. Would you be able to pm me regarding how much a weekend night is? Or, you can just say myob. ;) Thanks.

...

Interesting, thanks for the suggestion...yes, the price was reasonable compared to the point cost. The GV at BWV was over $400 more for the following weekend night, yet point wise the GV was more reasonable. I wonder how they come up with the costs!!! We're now going to find out if our family wants to begin the vacation on Saturday!!!

It's really public knowledge. The member discount is 25% off the rack rate. Below is the rack rate for 2007 taken from the VB lovers thread. Note that Easter is in March in 2008 so Holiday Season will be earlier and Regular Season will follow directly after that two week period. I don't think the rates have changed too much. Our rate was $701/night, which is expensive but the points for that night are 150. That's cheaper then dues at that point cost.

What is rack rate for the resort?
