If you could buy one expensive lens...

I'm not too greedy I would just like the 10-22 canon wide angle. Has anyone ever seen it below $700?

For Canon lenses, the ones I want the most are the 400mm f/2.8 or the 400mm f/4 DO. I'd also like the 85mm f/1.2, the 17mm T/S, the 24mm T/S, and the 200mm f/2.

A friend of mine rented the 400mm f/2.8 to take to the last space shuttle launch. That is one beast of a lens.

Obligatory link to the Canon 1200.

I have, and love, my Canon 24-105mm f/4.0 L. It's on my camera most of the time (I also bought the 70-200mm f/4.0 L, but that's a suprisingly inexpensive pieve of kit).

As for indoor shooting, I can't say for sure about the Lion King. But if you look at http://www.stagepics.co.uk, then almost all of the photographs there are taken with the 24-105mm. Admittedly, stage lighting is often quite bright, but there are some low-light ones too.

Image stabilisation is pretty much useless IF it's low light and your subject is moving. If your subject is still, IS is very useful indeed.

regards,
