I dont have a problem saying we made a $25.00 donation to both Red Cross and Humane Society and then we made another $10.00 donation to Red Cross through my son's school. Also my husband is donating blood next week.

I have no problem saying: We donated $50 to the Red Cross which is matched 100% by DH's company. We also took around 4 bags of clothing, toys, and toiletries to a local church that was taking items to churches in the areas taking in evacuees from Katrina. I plan to continue a bit more each month for the next few months as our budget allows.

My DW and I donated 500 personally to the Sunami relief and then through work I donated another 200 which was matched dollar for dollar by the company.

Don't mind saying either. We gave $250 to the Salvation Army, which my company matched 2:1. Wish I could have given more, or even more importantly, given some of my time. Unfortunately, I'm in short supply of that at this point. One thing I would like to do is foster a pet, since we are considering getting a dog anyway and this might be the perfect opportunity to give us a taste for what it will be like. I need to look into this further though.

I don't have a problem saying. I gave $250 to tsunami which my company matched 2:1. I gave $250 to Katrina which the company again matched 2:1. I will most likely give the same for Rita's general efforts as well as do some more company related things as we have many employees in the hurricane's path this time. I've been working this week trying to help employees and their families evacuate and also with securing data systems, offices, and running through our emergency/disaster preparedness plans.

I worked in the volunteer center at our military base where we have 150 families. Rather than give cash donations, I took the needs list from the evacuee center and filled it with purchases of items from Wal-Mart.

Additionally, we rented a camper and packed it full of food and supplies...100 gallons of gasoline, a couple of chain saws, and sent my husband to the New Orleans area for four days to help clear off the property owned by an elderly couple. The military gave him special permission to go into the area which had been declared off-limits. He took another military member with him. My plans to join them were cancelled after our weekend babysitter took ill an hour before our planned departure.

I've volunteered to open our home to a military family (need to be careful with 3 daughters) and have volunteered to take on a rescued bird who needs shelter for the long or short-term. Neither of those offers has been taken.

The animal shelters in the area are still rescuing animals and need serious amounts of help with the care and feeding of the animals.

I understand that most shelters in the area will hold on to the animals until about October 15th to allow families a chance to reclaim their animals. After that time, many will be available for adoption.

We gave $300+ to the Red Cross (made several contributions via different avenues and not sure how much it all added up to), $200 to Noah's Wish, $50 to HSUS, $300 to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic, $500 to IFC/SOS (another animal rescue fund with ZERO fundraising overhead and less than 1% annual adminstrative costs!), $300 to Habitat for Humanity, and $100 to Second Harvest. I also donated a trunkful of supplies to Noah's Wish, and sent half a dozen stuffed backpacks to "Got Your Back". I'm sure we'll make further donations, including the Better Life Foundation and additional funds to Habitat.

We are going on a cruise in a couple weeks, and decided to give up a few of the "extras" we were planning on to be able to donate a bit more than we would have.

The best part is that for all the cash donations, my husband's company is doing a double match on all of them, so that really adds up!

I haven't decided if I can foster a dog yet (it's a large responsibility that I don't know if I can take on at this point in my life, as I do some travel with my job), and I'm on the list for fostering a couple ferrets if the need arises.

I voted wrong! I didn't give as much in cash as I voted for (but I think it was a lot for a college student!) but I also did that backpack thing which ended up costing almost $30 after I shipped it! I also donated change at Walgreens.

2 new students who had to move because of Katrina will be coming to my dds' jr high. We're contributing calculators for now and hopefully more when they arrive. I's nice to give directly to someone. The jr high is also planning more, don't know the details yet.
