If you cancel, be sure to keep your Cancel #.

I almost had a heart attack today. Last Nov, I made a 10-day ressie at OKW. Later, I cancelled OKW, and booked BWV for the same week. I was assured OKW was cancelled.

Guess what. Today I called to make HH ressie, and I don't have any points left for this year! Turned out that my OKW was not fully cancelled. And I didn't know about it at all. And I did not have my cancellation number with me anymore. CM said she cannot do anything for me.

Luckily , after talking to the CM for 30 min, and she talked with her supervisor, they credited my points, and I made my ressie for HH.

The bottom line is.... DVC don't send you any point history letter. Even if you are good at keeping track of your own history, they may not be. So, my advice is, call them to confirm your reservation AND your cancellation. And keep your cancellation number for a while.

It's also a good idea at the end of every transaction to confirm your point balance. If they cancelled it properly, it should match the balance in your records.

That's why I like email.

I prefer email too, except DVC is really slacking on email these days. I send them a request, it's been 4 days now. Didn't hear anything.

I was told DVC will not send letter on cancellation, nor point history. I would think a letter at end of year on the point transaction history is very helpful. Even if I can access my history online would help greatly. If I get such information, I would not make another call to DVC, which will cut them cost on CM, and phone.

I'm not sure why DVC is not doing so. Every other web site can provide such service. It's not costly nor difficult to do at all!

Another enhancement that DVC can do easily, but choose not to.

I just received an account activity history from MS last week. I had done some cancellations and banking , replacing OKW points with HH points, etc. They said no problem when I asked for a statement to be mailed.

Debby7,
I would like to know if they really send you a transaction history statement. I was told multiple times that statement will only be send on reservation (ie, used) points. Not on cancellation. I am wondering if they will send you a written copy for point transfer or banking.... etc.

Thanks.

They will send one when you ask but will not automatically send one at all.

The statement I was sent showed all point activity for this use year and for next. Including how when I made a day by day reservation each day the points were cancelled and then rebooked. Also it showed when I replaced HH points with OKW points. It showed absolutely all point activity. I requested this statement, it was not sent automatically.

Along the same lines --- when you bank points they give you a banking #. That's another important one to write down and keep for the future.

I recently sent an e-mail asking for my point balance. I got a reply in less than 1 day. But, it just refered me to my Member Book and said I should call MS with my question. I'm calling today.

Wouldn't it be nice to list the remaining points available on the confirmation letter they send you after you make a reservation. If they are not going to send out cancelation letters of bank pts letters than some how they should give you numbers to compare your records with theirs.

What about having access to your account history or pt totals on line. wouldn't that be ideal.
