If I had my way I would make it into a TS that would feature a different region of the U.S. each night on a rotating basis. one night would be East and feature Maine lobster,Maryland Crab cakes, Pa Dutch Food and other eastern area specialty foods. The South would be BBQ ribs,Fried Chicken, corn fritters, and other southern specialties. The North would have Chicago style Pizza, Bratwurst, and other cheese delicasies . The West would feature salmon from the Northwest, Buffalo from the plains, and maybe a California type Sushi and other western favorites.Any other thoughts?:grouphug:

That's a good idea for a sit down restaurant. If we were keeping it as a CS I'd change it to cookout food. Keep the burgers, add in hot dogs, fried chicken, potatoe salad, pasta salad, corn on the cob, fruit salad. All sorts of things you'd find at cookouts from around the country.

I'd get Patrick O'Connell in there to design and implement a fantastic high end American restaurant. Perfect service, comfortable, elegant decor, and interesting cuisine using the freshest of great American ingredients. There is no excuse for the lack of showcase American dining in the World showcase.

I'd like to see them turn it into a Character Dinner Buffett with all sorts of food. BBQ in particular, but Brats, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken Tenders etc. Good food too nothing like they have there right now. That place is awful. Have Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Minnie.

If not a Dinner Buffett just a good Counter Service Meal with all of the above.

I would love a quality Creole meal.....A nice sit down with great atmosphere
to bad Emeril signed with Universal....

I agree with the BBQ idea...right now its just blah! You can get burgers in all the parks, so it's nothing special! All the other countries have unique ethinic food. America just serves burgers? Just adding my two cents :)

(BTW: My sister would probably kill me reading this post - the ONLY place she will eat in Epcot is America...if she can't have a burger - she won't eat it :cutie: )

I'd just add back the steak sandwich they used to serve years ago. It was really good and I always remembered it. It's what got me hooked on steak sandwiches. It was simple, a bun with a huge steak that was falling over the bun and fries. It was a thin steak but so good. It wasn't tough at all. YUM! I miss those.

It'd be nice to have some basic, but well-prepared comfort foods. Chicken and Dumplings. Fried chicken and green beans. Navy bean and pork soup. Mac and Cheese (better than the stuff they slop on the kid's buffets).

Sounds like Cracker Barrel to me. ;)

BBQ, like the backyard kind with ribs, fried chicken, grilled hot dogs, roasted corn on the cob, fried shrimp, smoked brisket, skillet corn bread, really good cole slaw, macaroni salad, potato salad and a huge wedge of watermelon.

This sounds like most of the food at Cape May Clam Bake

I think it should be a Cracker Barrel but as a character meal featuring Suzy and Perla, exclusively. At any given moment, there should be no less than 100 sets of Suzy and Perla characters wandering around the place so that every table has at least one pair to enjoy.

And maybe a free gift for every guest...like a doll or something.

That would be awesome. I'm giddy just thinking about it.

I agree with the idea of regional specialties, but not necessarily on a rotating basis. I'd offer the same menu every night, just have items from different regions.

I like the barbecue idea. Visitors from other countries would probably appreciate that, too. Our friends in Germany always want barbecue when they come to the US. Mediocre hamburgers can be ordered just about anywhere on Earth. It amazes me how busy it is. We always avoid it, except to use the bathroom nearby.

I think a diner theme would be neat. Very Americana -Rotating Blue Plate specials. Breakfast available all day (bacon and eggs, western omelets, biscuits and gravy). Open-faced turkey or beef sandwiches with mashed and gravy. Philly cheesesteaks, reubens, clubs, chili, chef salad, etc.

AND the REALLY incredible rotating dessert case. We used to go to this diner in Atlanta that had pies and cakes in a rotating case as you walked in, these things were HUGE and you sepnt the whole meal thinking about what you were having for dessert. The pies were 6-8 inches high and the cakes were taller than that. I still dream about their lemon meringue. YUM!

I'd make it a small scale Food & Wine festival for American food only. There is soooooo much more to it than burgers and fries !! They could do different stations like at Pepper Market or Sunshine Seasons with BBQ, seafood, cajun, Kosher specialties, tex-mex.... you get the idea.

I love that idea! Diners are quintessentially American.

I think they should let the Food Network take it over and let Paula Dean, Bobby Flay and the gang make the menu.....

BBQ ribs from Bobby Flay
Gooey Butter Toffee Cake from Paula

need I say more?
