Are all your points/contracts managed together or are direct and resale points managed separately? For example, if you wanted to make a reservation that required points from both direct and resale contracts, would that be easy to do (assuming you meet the restrictions on usage of resale points)?

Are the points in the same UY at the same resort?

I bought resale first, and when I added direct (same UY and resort), I got the same contract but with a .1 on the end. The contracts are listed separately, but managed together.

Not sure how trying to book Riviera though might be affected by new resale owners.

Forgot about the use year issue. I guess the key to simplicity is to also keep the same UY?

Having the points under one membership makes things easier. That requires that they have the same UY month and are titled the same. It's typically easier to buy resale and then purchase directly so that Disney combines the contracts under one membership (they can still be willed or sold separately).

Direct and resale points will still operate separately where restrictions are concerned. If you are booking a cruise or trying to book Riviera with restricted points, you will still hit a wall.

Thanks for all your help! This helps clear things up.
