If you book with Dreams Unlimted is it.....

Did you make a room only reservations with DU? Or did you get a package? I'm not sure about when the balance is due on a room only through a TA. If made directly through Disney then it is upon arrival. It's whatever you want to do if DU doesn't give you a balance due date.

I booked thru DU last week and have only paid the deposit, I plan to pay the balance when we check in (this was the instructions on my quote for when you had to pay). I'm doing this for 2 reasons, 1. because if I code comes out that reduces the amt I don't want to have overpaid & 2. I plan to use my disney rewards to pay for as much of the room as possible. Some people like to make monthly payments toward the balance so it's taken care of before they leave which is easy to do with DU's online payment form. Figure out what works best for your budget.

At Dreams Unlimited Travel, the deposit and payment policy is the same as Disney's. In fact, your deposit is held by Disney the whole time, not Dreams Unlimited. By using Dreams, you just authorize them to make the deposit to Disney on your behalf and subsequently handle all the reservation details.

So, your reservation is essentially held by Disney and the legwork is just done by Dreams Unlimited.

:)

I am confused. When I booked through Dreams Unlimited a year or two ago I had to pay the $200 deposit when I booked then I had to pay the balance about 30 - 45 days ahead of time. I would much prefer to pay the balance when I arrive....is that possible??

It depends on the type of reservation you make. If you book a ROOM ONLY then you may pay at check in. If you book a package, then the full amount is due 45 days in advance of arrival.

If we go through DU, is the cancellation on a room only reservation the same (5 days prior)?

Since the payments are made directly to Disney, the payment/cancellation schedule is the same.

Hockeychic, if you made a $200.00 deposit, you booked a package. Disney requires that these be paid in full 45 days in advance of arrival. :D

As Misti said, with Dreams you make your payments directly to Disney which sets the policies regarding payments and the like.

You can get just a quote from Dreams Unlimited but if you want more than one you need to be realllllly specific. We tried to get three quotes from them and they completely ignored our request for the last two and for some reason reserved us rooms at AKL which was our first quote request. They email you the quote request after a few days so you don't get it immediately or anything but I've heard some really great things about them and their services. Just make sure when you request a quote if you want more than one to be specific in the "other" section.

They are REALLY SLOW right now (DU). I got a quote from them ten days ago. Emailed the agent personally asking for a quote from another resort. He wrote back immediately and said he'd get it within 2 days or so b/c Disney was slow. I said okay. It's been 10 days and nothing from the agent. I guess I was forgotten.

Melrosgirl,

I requested a quote from DU last week and recieved it the next day. I have also sent some questions to them via e-mail and asked for some resort changes and all have been responded to quickly. I would e-mail him back again and if you do put down a deposit, ask for another agent. I haven't officially booked with DU yet but when I do I will request SueEllen from these boards. Everyone says she's great and so far she has been.

I used SueEllen too, she gave me a quote in one day and I had to
change my ressies by a day and she did it right away. She has
been great and this is my first time with DU.

I'm using Merrie Thomas at DU who is also excellent. She's been prompt responding to all my questions. I am booked with a AAA rate at POP but I'm hoping codes come out for POR/POFQ. They keep track of this for you, right? :flower1:

Unfortunately, I don't know if they will keep checking for
codes only for the POP, or if they will also check for
the POR/POFQ also. I hope someone knows the answer,
maybe you could ask your DU agent.

They'll check for any and all discounts that may apply to your reservation. If you have alternate resorts you'd like them to check, they'll check for those as well.

Hope that helps. :)
