And you don't make any room requests, are you likely to be put in the worst/farthest building possible? I know a lot depends on what's available, just wondering.

Our first visit to Pop, which was before the refurbishment, we booked a standard room and were placed on the "back" side of the 70s building, overlooking a park-like area between the building and the 90s parking lot. It was near the "Everything Pop" end of Classic Hall in the map in this post: https://www.disboards.com/threads/whats-the-worst-room-at-pop-century.3919602/post-64822847. However, we did have one request, for a king-size bed, and it was granted, so we were in a room with a roll-in shower. I think if you find the dedicated Pop thread you'll find a map with the Standard rooms designated, and they are definitely not all in the worst/farthest buildings possible.

Depending on what you're walking to and if you're parking, they all have the potential to be good locations!
That's good to know. Our next trip we'll likely stay at All Star Sports again, but I'm considering Pop with all the YouTube videos I've been watching.

I'm not sure but personally I would not risk it. Pop often runs at/near capacity so I'm guessing many add location requests to their reservations.

We add a request but if placed in building we'd prefer not to be in, we have asked to be moved to a different building and so far it was always accommodated. Sometimes we had to wait a bit for another room to be ready but since we tend to stay for longer trips, we do have certain areas we prefer more than others.

Regarding requests for buildings not being met, sometimes it's for a good reason - and I'd hope that when you go to the front desk to ask to be moved, they explain why.

This happened to me at All Stars Music once. I'd requested the Broadway section. I'd gotten the room not ready text, but I went to the front desk just to make sure my MagicBand was linked correctly (my previous stay at the Poly rather than a room number I got a "see the front desk" message that freaked me out but it was that my MagicBand wasn't linked so now I go to check before I do anything else). The cast member checked and it was fine. Then she said "I see there's a request on your reservation for Broadway, but we put you in Rock because there is a group taking up all but a few rooms in Broadway and we thought you wouldn't want to deal with that. I can move you into one of them if you prefer." I opted to stay in Rock - seeing the group around the resort was enough to know they made the right decision. (No, it wasn't a SATG.)

At Pop we were once on a 2 week stay that was 2 reservations for same room type linked together. I had requested same room and it was 1960’s lake view. Well. When I went to checkin for the second half they surprised me and put us into a different room. I asked why and they had given the SATGs the 1960’s that was not poolside. I was like are you serious?! Idk why they put them into the best rooms but we had to move (as Disney was correct we didn’t want to be in the middle of them. Turned out our 50’s room was in the closest end of building 3 to the main building and actually a shorter walk lol. They also moved all of our stuff to the new room including cold food. I was so appreciative of that.

I've stayed at Pop twice. The first time we were in the 60s section and the second time we were in the 50s section, without making a room request either time. I would say 50s and 60s are the best sections in terms of how close they are to transportation and the main building, so I was glad to get them without making a request.

Way back when when we were disney newbies to planning our own trips, the ones we had to pay on our own and not my parents lol, we stayed at POP and got a great location room in the 50s building with no room request. I didn't even realize you could request a room. Several stays after that, at other disney resorts, I never requested rooms and have always thought we had good locations. Fast forward a few years, I make room requests in touring plans but know that they're just requests and we may not get them and have always felt like we've been in good locations even if it wasn't what we wanted. I think it's all based on inventory and luck however, I do think Disney does a good job of trying to honor all requests.

Just not sure we had made requests and not... We have had some great rooms and not so good rooms with either. No idea what order they assign the rooms but if there is no request and you are put in the last room in a certain section and someone requested that section that is done later the request is not going to honored. There is just way to much that relies on requests from day of the week you check in to people checking out in the area you want to how long you are staying.... It is always best to make a general request like a section or near bus stop or Lobby or Pool it gives the assigner a lot more to work with although section would be the bottom of the list for me.... Find what is closest......

Stayed at Pop last year and didn't make a request. They put us in the 80s building which I guess is furthest from the skyliner but none of us (including a 7 year old and 4 year old) minded the walk. Also supposedly furthest from Classic Hall, but we had stayed at Art of Animation the year before, and I found that walk a lot shorter than the one from the Little Mermaid building to the dining hall there. Didn't think that was bad at all.

We usually make a request for a room close to the main bldg. and have always been given a room in 50s or 60s. I know this last time we were booked in standard...I'm honestly not sure what we booked the other times. If we were placed in 80s or 90s we'd ask and wait to be moved.

The "worst" room is such a subjective thing. Everyone's opinion of what is bad is different. Last week we were on the backside of building 2 in the 50s. It was a little bit of a walk to either the Skyliner or Classic Hall, but not bad by any means. And we enjoyed that it was relatively quiet around our room.

I don't mind a bit of a walk and I've found that even the rooms furthest from Classic Hall are not more than a 5-minute walk to Classic Hall/Everything Pop. And the further rooms may be closer tot the Skyliner.
