If you are taking the Western cruise - Do you need Key West information?

Hi there,
Every so often I will post to see if anyone needs information on Key West. There are no strings attached and the only cost is for the postage to get the information back to you. The reason I do this is Norm and I are both 4 generation conchs of Key West and we go "home" every few months and each time we do, we grab as much information as we can so that we can share it with you.
There are coupons, maps, discount cards etc - it just gives you a head up before you get to Key West. I understand it has helped numberous of cruisers and they have been able to make their plans before getting to Key West - I am now starting to enclose information of the space coast also so you will have some information to look at before you get here for your cruise.
If you are interested - just drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com - again there are no strings attached and there aren't any kickbacks etc for doing this.

I better post what you will need and where to send it - also if you are sailing AFTER May 5th, wait until then to send your request - if you want it mailed to you from Key West, I must have it before April 25th for Norm and I leave for "home" on the 26th - you need a large (extra large if I am taking it to Key West), with about 3.50 worth of stamps and please make it self addressed - you mail it to: The Perfect Gift, 6550 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida 32920.
I have been doing this now for almost 2 years and I understand it has helped numberous of cruisers that requested the packets of goodies.

The sooner you have your packets, the more time you can plan what you want to do, where you want to go and also decide if you want to do something, there are phone numbers and addresses - I do include maps which helps you understand Key West a little better - those that I know for a fact are honest busniess - I put their business card with my name on it so you will be given "conch rates" - and again there is nothing in this for me - it is just something I do so that you will understand my hometown just a little better - like anywhere places and people change especially in a tourist town such as Key West and you have to be aware that being such, there are greedy folks - also I recommend going to the local paper which is the Key West Citizen - I will give you local news and also what is happening where and when down there including the weather, fishing etc - Norm and I are going down for his 50th class reunion at the end of April and of course we still have family down there -
Anyhow the packets is well worth the monies.

just put a note in your envelope (send an extra large one) and what I will do is put 2 packets in there - or I will go through the stuff and what I feel you will need 6 of, will just include it in that one packet. I believe there will be enough to share.

We will be on the Magic April 24th, so too late for one of your wonderful packets. Besides picking up the Key West Citizen, what else can you recommend for coupons etc...?
Also, do you know the distance between the port and Kermits? We walked it two years ago but we were all over the place and I must have another chocolate dipped key lime pie when we're there in April--heavenly!
One more question(sorry) where is the best place to be for sunset at Mallory Sq.?

First off anyone that wants to stop by the shop and pick up a Key West packet is more than welcomed to do so - I made a bunch of them today - I also have a few ron Jon's shop coupons with 15% off of any purchases that can and will save you a bundle - they are not giving them out anymore so I will share those I have left with those that want them -Edina where will you be spending the night before the cruise? Maybe I could drop a packet off to you so that you could at least have it before you get to Key West - drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com and let me know for sure - there is a Chamber of Commerce right there at Mallory Square by the sponge market - go in there for they have a great deal of information and coupons - also for the best jewelry buy see Vinny or Gary with Touch of Gold which is right by Kino sandels - just tell him that I recommended him and he will give you conch rates - I am still stunned at the prices he gives not only to my family but those I recommend to him - you would pay the same amount I would and he is as honest as honest gets - also the ONLY tee shirt shop I recommend is called route One which is 3 or 4 doors south of Jimmy buffett's Margaritville - you must ask for Danny and just tell him I sent you to him - he will give conch rates at about 30% off - so far he hasn't disappointed me as far as treating anyone I send to him - if you have a problem, just call me on my cell and I will straighten it out if I can - 321-508-2246. as for the best place to watch the sunset, I love going next door to Mallory Square at the Hilton - seems like it doesn't have as much confusion tho all the vendors and actors with their shows are at Mallory Square - if you are in need of a drink GET IT BEFORE you go to see the sunset - a small glass of beer is $8.00 and a small coke $3.00 plus 7.5% tax - Kermits has several locations - there is one not too far from mallory sqare and for the life of me, I can not remember the street BUT I will look it up and post it tomorrow.

Hi there - I am almost out of Key West information until I go back down in another month - now for all of those that are sending for these packets, I will be taking your envelopes with me and mailing them from Key West - I would suggest putting about $4.00 worth of stamps on them since I will have access to getting a lot more of information to put in your packets - do not get concern until after I get back from Key West if you are waiting for your envelope to arrive any day soon - they will be to you not later than the first week of May -

Christine - the aquarium has improved 100% since I was young - also the Butterfly farm is great for kids - I will be going to Key West the end of april - Norm and I are having class reunions down there so will be able to pick up a bunch of information to send out - I will be more than glad to share - also these pamplets have a great deal of information, coupons etc which will help while you are down in Key West.

Tom - unfortunalty this may not give me enough time to get it back to you tho I will be home on May 2nd so the packets will be mailed sometime during the latter part of April - Where will you be staying when you get here? I was thinking if you couldn't come by the shop, that I would run it over to you - let me know what you would like to do.
As for Mr. Hemingway's home, I have never been there - I understand it is very very interesting - as I have mentioned many times, he was very mean to me as a child and I just stayed away from anywhere he was, but again he was a very talented man and could be worth going to see it. I love Whitehead Street - not because my family lived there and I was born on that street, but it has so much history - this is where the pirates really made what Key West is known by which is Caya Hueso (Streets of bones) - you have some beautiful and very old homes there, the old courthouse is there, Green Parrot Bar which was known as the Brown Derby for many many years. Whitehead and Angela also was where a "Voodoo" Queen lady lived for many years - she read cards and did weird stuff (but of course we were kids then and it appeared scary to us) - Anyhow drop me a note at sneslonbrown@aol.com and let me know what you would like me to do about the Key West info.

This is the same Shirley, she is great! I ordered a basket for my daughter and asked her to put some Key West info in the basket since I didn't get around to sending for it! She made a basket for my mom last cruise and it was wonderful!
