if you are in WDW for an anniversary

We are going down next week for our 15 year ann. We went to WDW on our honeymoon as well. Its just the 2 of us going, no kids. We are having dinner at Victoria and Alberts on our Ann date. Plus I am having flowers delivered to the room on our arrival day.

Well it depends on what your budget is and if your staying at a Disney Resort. But, we go just about every year for anniversary and stay at a Disney resort (unless we are on a cruise), so here is my tips.

First, make sure when you make your reservation that it's noted that you are coming for a special event- anniversary. That way when you check in you'll get a Disney anniversary button to wear and they should at least acknowledge it at check in.

Second, reserve a carriage ride...these can be very romantic.

Third, book a restaurant for your anniversary dinner (it doesn't have to be in the parks or even a full meal). We have done just dessert at the California Grill for the fireworks.

Fourth, find a quite spot to watch the theme park fireworks from. I have my favorite spot and theme park admission is not necessary.

Fifth, make a tradition to buy something to celebrate your special day. That way you'll have something to take home and treasure as well. Could be anything from a picture frame to a Christmas ornament.

Happy Anniversary! Here's my anniversary countdown...

For our 20th, we renewed our vows. Very quick, much like the first ceremony which was informal. We picked a spot dear to us and the entire family was there. Out of the way (did not use the Disney services) and it was over in less than 10 minutes (like the first ceremony). For the 30th, our son and his family decided to visit Disney World over that day so we joined them. We had a dinner at the Biergarten.

For the 40th? Plans still in the air.

DH and I have celebrated many anniversaries at WDW . Our 30th was my favorite. :cool1: We did the romantic dinner and the fireworks , but , the best part was that we went to the Pick A Pearl ( in Japan ) and I got a beautiful 7 mm pearl and a lovely " cage " on a chain for it . :dance3: Then I found out that the pearl is the gift for the 30th . Now , there's a memory that will never fade!

Carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside is nice. We did that on our anniversary. If money is no object, I'd watch the fireworks from a boat or dinner at a signature restaurant.

High End $- Grand 1, VIP Tours etc

Mid Range $ - V&A's, Spa etc

Low Range $ - Carriage Ride, Walking WS at night.

Really a couples message, nice meal at a good signature, and a place for some good desert and fireworks, arrive back to your room all decorated. Can you ask for more?

Make various simple Disney things into special memories: For example, think of special memories; adventures, difficulties, activities, milestones, places, etc. during your relationship then find something at Disney to represent that memory. Use a card, buy a gift at a gift shop, ride a ride, visit an area; whatever related to the memory and talk about it.

One example: Made a trip to India or Nepal? Visit Everest or the Asian section of AK and do or buy something to remember that special trip. Went river rafting on a date? Go to Kali River rapids. Your first child? Find a cute small baby gift in a store. Went to the drive-in when you dated? Relive it at Sci-Fi Diner. Anything at all that can be related to something in your life together. If necessary, the relationship between the memory and the Disney connection can be very indirect or imaginative, just so you make that place, action, purchase about the memory. Make it an adventure to relive these memories by making a Disney connection.

Book a carriage ride and then plan to walk around POR after dark. It is beautiful and romantic. Then take the boat to Downtown Disney for shopping etc.

Depending on which anniversary it is, re-propose or do a vow renewal. This can be a full formal reciting of vows, or it could be a very brief informal few words together.

If it is only a handful of years, pick a different place and celebrate each year of your marriage.

Get multiple cards for each other: One for each year, each milestone, or each day of your trip. (We did a 12 night cruise for our 25th and I got 13 cards, one for each day, and each said something different I love about my wife.)

Make the time to just stop and enjoy each other's company. Sit somewhere nice in one of the Parks, but pay attention to one another, not your surroundings. :)

For our 40th, we booked BWI CL for a week, DH ordered a lovely flower arrangement from Disney Floral and we had dinner at the Chef's table @ The Flying Fish (it's worth every penny!!!). It was a relaxing, pleasant stay and lots of fun. We wore our "Happy Anniversary" buttons everywhere and received dozens of acknowledgments which made us smile every time.:lovestruc

We did V&As in the QVR for our Annv dinner. It was great!! With no kids it was a great time!

If you go in the American Adventure wearing your anniversary buttons, you will get a phone call from Mickey wishing you a happy anniversary.

Definitely wear your anniversary buttons!

Its kind of hokey, but there is just something cool about having many, many cast members wish you a happy birthday or anniversary.

I broke my ribs for our 20th anniversary...I don't recommend it.

Over at passporter.com, the podcast this week is on romantic things to do at WDW.

For our 10th:

We ate many dinners at TS restaurants--which we don't always do--and made sure to include places we had never been before.

One special dinner at Blue Zoo--a fabulous place in the Dolphin if you like seafood.

Carriage ride at POR.

La Nouba

I did the KTTK tour while DW spent a morning at the spa.

Rented a boat for a couple hours and cruised the Sassagoula

As PPs have said, wear your buttons at all times! We received free champagne at Boatwrights, and our dessert was OTH at Blue Zoo. Also fun to get constant happy comments from the CMs and other guests.
