If you are going in October double check your rates

When I called to cancel my original reservation upon booking the lower rate on line the CM asked why I had 2 and took forever to cancel it and wouldn't add my return of deposit to the new reservation to increase my deposit!! I still haven't received the credit to my CC, but was charged the additional deposit. I have contacted WDW via email and haven't heard back as of now. The CMs were acting like I was doing something wrong by asking to have my rate lowered!! WDW shouldn't have lowered the AP rates for additional days if they didn't expect those already with reservations to want the same rate.

You know it is sad that we read about so many CMs with attitude problems. If Disney has set it up this way that their own employees are putting people on hold with no intention of getting back to them, and being rude and making snide remarks, and acting like we have no right to assume we should get the discount we see on their site, and making us feel like we are somehow at fault for cancelling reservations and making new ones, etc. due to commissions, this is not very magical at all. I used to feel happy about calling Disney and now I sort of dread who I may have to deal with.

It would be my fondest wish that we could make our changes online rather than have to call to do so.

That said, biggest kudos to those Disney CMs who are still so very nice, still magical, and still spread the pixie dust. I talked to one CM to make dining reservations the other day, who could have been Tinkerbell, she was so sweet. :)

Actually, when I was speaking to the CM that I did the cancellation with I was so disgusted I told her this experience was making me want to cancel the whole trip. If my 2 adult children and new grandson weren't going at the same time I think I might have. By the way, this is the FIRST truly bad experience I have had with CMs regarding applying a code. Usually all are ever so helpful and in earlier years around 2000 the CMs were the ones that told me about AP discounts. All this info wasn't on the internet yet or at least not quite so much. I am still waiting for some type of response from my email to WDW. Can't wait to see what that might be.

I don't ever deal with 407WDISNEY any longer. Only when I have to cancel. I don't modify rooms, dates or anything with them. It might be a bigger hassle to have to rebook online but i do it that way. I also do it on a different CC so its not confusing to keep track of which was a deposit and which was a charge back. CM's are a gold mine of wrong information and it can take FOREVER to do the modification(check address, give CC number, etc.). Especially if you have more than 1 room.
I make my converstaion with them as simple as possible..cancel this confirmation number please. I do that after I have found the room/ price on line that beats what I currently have and have booked it. I don't get attitude from them as much as I get bad info.

Thanks so much for the notice! I went from $114/night to $99/night at POFQ October 4-12. Saved $135. The CM I talked to did want the three leter code (which is on the passholder site) - otherwise I might have had a problem.

Again, my thanks to the OP about the change!

(I'm sad, however, that the deluxe rates aren't any better. BAH. I really wanted AKL this time but refuse to double my hotel expenses.)

I priced the standard view at AKL for the last few days of Sept and beginning of Oct and up to Oct 1 the rate was 159, the 2nd was 200 I think. I know it's a lot more that the values 54/night and mods for 99.

I had the passholder room + dining with the wine add-on for $511.89 for two nights in Octoberat CSR. I plugged in the dates again because of this thread, and it went down to $478.13.

Yeah, the CM was really nice, but really confused. She was asking me what code I used... Ummm, no code, this is what came up on the AP section. So, I had to book through the web site to get the lower price, and they're going to refund the $511.89.

So, I saved $33.76 for the stay, but it took about 20 minutes to get it done. The CM kept apologizing for it taking so long. Sweet lady.

Wow, I love this idea! That is so much simpler to book online and only call to cancel. I also like the tip about using a different cc. I tell ya, it is so confusing keeping track of those deposits and refunds and modifications. Thanks for the advice! :)

It is so strange that all of a sudden they don't know what their OWN website offers and all have difficulties using the codes. Maybe they don't want jobs and everyone should just use the internet and only call to cancel!!

Do you know if deluxe resorts are down as well?

We booked through AAA last month for Oct 24-30 and they called last night to tell me I'm getting a $300 credit because of a promo Disney is running on the room rates. We're booked at WL so it must include all levels.

I also found out that if you find it on the web and wait to call, even 2 minutes,....its been snactched up by then. Don't have to get burned twice to figure out take it and book it NOW if it's the room you've been waiting for.

So what is the three letter code? I'm wanting to book a room but I don't have an AP yet but will have when I show up at the resort. Can you help?

Thanks!

I am just wondering that since I had to book on line in order to get the lower rate and cancel my current reservation, when does Disney credit back for the cancelled reservation? They wouldn't apply the additonal monies to my new reservation. Also, I have never made my WDW reservations online and they have yet to actually charge my new reservation. There is a pending charge, but not an actual one that is in my bal. Although I can access this new reservation online with my reservation number and it shows the deposit, I'm concerned since I had a lot of trouble with getting the lower rate. When I make a WDW via the phone, it seems the charge is actually posted the next day. Does anyone know when the credit back will post? Thank you for any info on this.

I'm wondering that, too. I cancelled yesterday at about 3:00 PM. The reservation is showing that it's cancelled on the Disney site. However, my money has not yet been credited to my CC account. I'll check again this afternoon.

Tink-
No problem, I think we each have a little bit of knowledge on this or that when it comes to WDW.

Oh, to the last post, charge backs can take up to 5 days. That's what the CM told me when I cancelled on Wednesday, and as I recall from previous times, that's about right.

PS- Monica, I'm in Coconut Creek, It's A Small World After All.

Thanks! Good to know... I would've started to get a bit anxious after a couple of days!

I know what you mean. What's the point in the joy of finding a cheaper rate if they don't give you back your money on the first one! I always make sure to check my CC on line and nip any potential problems in the bud.

Ahem, does anyone know the three-letter code? Is it the same as is being posted at mousesavers? Is it PWE?

Refunds to credit card accounts on canceled reservations can take up to two billing cycles. So you could possibly be waiting two months for that refund.

Yeppers... I am a big fan of this newfangled online banking thing. I always hate having to call the companies.

D'oh! That's somewhat annoying.
