Feel like choice of hotels is limited...

Last time we stayed at Pop but it was only 4 of us, this time we are 5.

Where are you guys staying?

We're a family of 5, and would never stay in a hotel. Rooms can only sleep 4, and staying in a suite (or booking two hotel rooms) in a WDW property is prohibitively expensive...at least for us. You're looking at $300+/night at the bare minimum. Typically $450 or more.

We always rent a condo or townhouse off site. Costs between $70-$90/night and gets us 3-4 bedrooms 2.5 or 3 baths, full family room, full kitchen, etc... All the places we stay have nice pool areas, most are gated communities, etc... It's the only way we'll do WDW.

Were 5. Best price is to stay at a moderate or rent points for DVC. It's the only way to go. A suite at the values ends upbeing more then a moderate.

Riverside is a great and quiet place to stay. We enjoyed our last stay.

We are 5. We have done AoA cars suite and a one bedroom at Bay Lake tower. This year we are trying Fort Wilderness cabins.

We stay at Bonnet Creek. We like multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen, and a washer and dryer. It's a great resort, and much cheaper than trying to get all of those things in a Disney resort. And it's CLOSE.

We are a family of 5 and have stayed a couple times in a standard deluxe room and more recently at CBR. CBR and POR are your cheapest options onsite. We looked into the cabins and AoA but they were so close in price to the deluxes we opted to stay Deluxe for the location and amenities. We have no need for extra rooms or full kitchens and prefer the onsite perks. CBR has been our favorite resort to date after staying at all levels.

If one of your children is under the age of three when you check in, you can still stay in any resort room that sleeps four (plus one under the age of three).

When my youngest was small we stayed one room at a value resort. As the boys got bigger we went to connected rooms at value resorts so we would have 4 beds and 2 baths. We eventually bought DVC so we could spread out. We get a 2bedroom villa every trip now.

Hey, you're lucky to be a family of 5! We're a family of 6 and have way fewer options. Our last trip we stayed at CBR because our youngest was only 2 and we LOVED it there. I don't know why the previous poster said rooms only sleep 4. That isn't true, there are several resorts that sleep 5 to a room. CBR has a pull-down murphy bed, which my kids loved.

Next time we go down, my youngest will be 3 so we can't stay in most hotels. Our only options are the cabins, the suites at AOA, or the suites at all star music. I've been leaning towards staying off-site in a condo though even though I am sad about not being in the Disney bubble.

Poly, always the Poly. Trying to convince DH for a night at the BC but he says no...sigh...

I do love the Poly though and only want the BC for one day at the pool Then I can go back to my poly pool view of the castle...ahhh...

We are a family of five and when the kids were younger, one room that sleeps five worked fine. CBR, POR, or most of the Deluxe hotels have rooms that sleep five. Now that the kids are getting older, we really enjoy a little bit more space when on vacation. We have gotten two rooms at Pop that met out needs. Having two bathrooms is not to be underestimated. We also really enjoyed Wyndham Bonnet Creek. The con to staying there is that it is offsite, the pro is the cost and so much space.

I really don't find it to be that difficult being a family of 5. Disney makes it way easier than most destinations!

Options are:
-family suite at AOA or ASMu
-room at CBR, POR or cabin at Ft. Wilderness
-any of the deluxes, except AKL and WL (unless you get a villa or CL deluxe room).

I find that to be plenty of options.

Dolphin allows 5. And though it's not Disney owned, you still get to do FP 60 day and ahead, use the great transportation, and get extra magic hours. I wasn't all that impressed with POR when we stayed there last fall. We also stayed a trip Wyndham Bonnet Creek and that one is great. We usually did part on site and part off so we had the best of both worlds.

We chose a one bedroom at AKL. Great decision-we loved it there

We own dvc and stay at Kidani most of the time. I would echo renting dvc points there. OKW one bedroom also an economical choice. OKW is quite reasonable even through Disney direct. You will save money on snacks, water, the odd meal if you are open to that.

We're a family of 5 for most trips (and a family of 6 or 7 on others depending how many kids are traveling with us). On a few trips we did connecting rooms at Pop Century which worked fine for us. Once AoA opened, we started staying there. We prefer the suites at AoA over 2 rooms simply because DH & I like having our own bedroom since the kids -- regardless of age -- never seem to have the same sleep schedule that we do. And because our kids are older now (youngest is 12), two bathrooms is a necessity. It's not even negotiable. So that eliminates the moderates and deluxe standard rooms (that accommodate 5) as well as the cabins for us. We also prefer to stay on property so while we could get a lot more space for our money by renting an offsite house/condo, I don't cook or do laundry on vacation and we like to be able to easily go back and forth from the parks to our room during the day, so staying offsite has zero appeal to us.

Like others have mentioned, there are actually several options for a party of 5 at Disney, you just have to decide which one works best for your family.
