If we do not get a verandah

In the room. When mom went to the bathroom for just a few seconds, she left the restroom door open so she could hear what was going on in the cabin. The 5 year old climbed on a chair and unlocked the door. She was pulling on it to open when mom ran out of the restroom to stop her. So it may be rare, but it can happen. I don't have kids so it doesn't effect me yet. Just sharing an experience.
That's one strong kiddo! I can barely shove that thing open as an adult once I have fumbled with the lock.

Well she didn't have it open yet, she was just pulling on it. Thank goodness her mom wasn't in the restroom for much longer!

On the newer topic mentioned, I can't wait to try a virtual porthole room!

Ditto... I'm a fit and strong adult and I struggle with that door. The lock is very high up also and it also requires strength to turn. Our rule is that the door is closed and locked unless DH or I are right there with our son. He's not allowed on the verandah alone and we don't leave the door open, period.

To be fair - your photos are of the balcony on a cat. 3 suite - right? A standard balcony is much smaller.

True, but the beautiful view, fresh air, and privacy is the same :thumbsup2

On our last cruise we were upgraded to a verandah. I now find myself trying to find the money to upgrade on our next trip. For my children, the deck parties, the kids clubs, and the pools meant a good vacation. But for my husband and I, that small piece of ship that no one else could access made our vacation perfect.

We have done both too!! When my DS was 2 1/2 and we had my DMIL sailing with us we got a family stateroom w/veranda so we could sit outside while he was sleeping. This time we have 2 kids and planned to get the family stateroom w/veranda so we would have a little extra room. HOWEVER, I priced 2 connecting rooms in the Cat 9B with a porthole and it was cheaper for the 2 rooms. That meant we had 2 of EVERYTHING!!! Bathroom, TV, extra beds!! And we could be in one room while the kids were going to sleep in the other room!!

The only time we really enjoyed being on the veranda was in the morning to see where we were, watch the docking, or leaving the dock, but we weren't really in the room enough to make it worth while when we can spend the savings elsewhere!!

Whatever you decide... HAVE FUN!! You can't beat a Disney Cruise!!! pirate:

Is it November 12, 2011 yet so we can leave???? :lmao:
