If we decide to add a day onto our tickets?

We are currently purchasing 8-day base tickets for our 12 day trip. Arrival day & leave day we go nowhere, and 2 other days, BUT I have only slated one day for Hollywood Studios, as in the past our son has found the least to do there, but now he will be 5 and is an avid Star Wars fan, and is already excited about Star Tours. He also really enjoys the Beauty & The Beast Show, he loves that movie and watched that show twice last year. So we MAY add another day on and visit HS for a half day on one of our off days if he wants to. So if we decide to, will they allow us to add the one day on for the $25 or whatever the cost will be, I think it was only a $25 or $30 difference between 8day & 9day for all of us.

Or would we have to buy a 1-day ticket?

You will be able to add a day. No need to buy a separate 1-day ticket.

Yes. It's actually just $10 plus tax per ticket to add a day at that point. If you tickets are on a KTTW card you can add the extra day any time within 14 days of when the ticket first was used. If, however, you have a separate ticket without names or dates on it, you need to do that upgrade while you still have at least one active entitlement on the ticket (i.e. on or before the day you use your 8th day of admission; not the day after you use the 8th day).
