If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

Okay, just one short little news flash! ;) :rotfl:

I did online check-in today for our February visit to WDW! I must have been living under a rock as I had absolutely no idea you could check in 60 days prior to your vacation.
But I played with their new website and set up "my Disney experience" when suddenly it asked me if I wanted to check in for my upcoming vacation. :scared1:
Yes, I wanted to and went ahead ...... so we are officially checked in for one night at Pop prior to our cruise and two nights at Bay Lake Tower after the cruise. :thumbsup2

And YES, we are already checked in for our cruise as well - have been for a while. :rotfl:

I have a few updates (nearly) ready, but it is too late for me today, so I will update tomorrow morning! :thumbsup2

Awesome!

Sorry I haven't posted in so long - we spent Christmas with my extended family and are with my husband's adult son for new years then we're off the WDW in less than a week!! I have not had much time or access to internet but wanted to drop you a note while I could to say I can't believe how awesome your room at the contemporary was! Also, that room in Ft Lauderdale was SCARY :crazy2: I don't think I would have been able to sleep!

Excellent news on checking in! Exciting!!

I would love to try BLT someday...we stayed at The Contemporary last summer and were chosen as Family of the Day! Upgraded to club level with a perfect view of MK! I could have sat on that balcony the whole stay!! Link in my signature if you would like more details!

Don't worry about not posting, sometimes it's just hard to find the time to read AND post. :goodvibes
I hope you have LOTS of fun at WDW, how wonderful that you are going right now when the new promotion starts. :thumbsup2

Yes, Ft. Lauderdale was a bit on the scary side, but we LOVED the Contemporary! :cloud9:

It's such a great feeling when you are able to check in online, makes the trip feel so much closer. :goodvibes
You know, I took your advice and checked out your TR about you being the Family of the day at the Contemporary and I realized I had read it before. It was one of the TR I read when I did research on the CR. :lmao:

You really should check into BLT. It was our first DVC stay in February and we LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the location. We had a lake view room, but could actually see most of WDW. It was awesome. :thumbsup2

I'm under the same rock. 60 days prior? So exciting..

Karin, how funny that you had already read my TR!

I will absolutely stay at BLT someday...just need to figure out when that is! :)

I had no idea you could do online check in that soon either !!! When you are at Pop check the gift shop and say Hi to Elysse , my favorite CM!!! She usually works the afternoon shift and has been there for years so a lot of the staff know her and will tell me if and when she is working !!! Tell her Rosie said Hi!!!

I've been quietly following from Saint Louis, MO for awhile. Your life is very different from mine. I think that is what intrigues me. Love the updates.

No, you are not under a rock. It hasn't been officially announced yet that I know of. I think it's still in a test mode because sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't. So far, the nw website is getting really bad reviews though. Especially dining. I haven't had to play with it yet, but I am not looking forward to it.
The 60 day thing will coincide with the new fastpass plus. At 60 days you'll be able to pick your rides too.

Wishing all our DISboards friends a
VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Very Nice! Happy New Year Karin and Tom!!!

Enjoyed your update :thumbsup2 It looks like the Contemporary was a welcome place to relax after your "scarey" room! :goodvibes How fun that you got to talk with the Manager at the Grill. I love your view and the fireworks from that vantage point can't be beat. Did they pipe in the sound somewhere close? Nice you could check in so early! Makes it feel closer, doesn't it? Looking forward to more!:cheer2:

I was so shocked when whenever I played with the new site and "my Disney experience" I was asked if I wanted to check in now.
So I just tried and it let me, sent me a confirmation and all. Only later I discovered somewhere on the site that online check in is now 60 days out. :lmao:

I was :lmao: when I pulled up your trip report and realized I had already read it. :rotfl:
The studios at BLT are the smallest but you canNOT beat the fact that you can just walk over to the MK. ;)

I am so glad I was not the only one in the dark about the 60 day check in thing. ;)
We will definitely have a look to see if she is there, Rosie. Unfortunately we arrive late (flight only comes in at 6.40, then it's through immigration and picking up a rental) and I don't think we'll be at the resort until 9pm, but if she is still working at that time we'll find her to tell her you said hello!

Welcome! :goodvibes
I hope you intend to follow less quietly from now on. :goodvibes
From your screenname I guess you teach as well. So I wonder where your life is so different from ours. ;)
More updates coming up soon. :thumbsup2

I am glad I didn't just miss the announcement, Jen. I was so stunned it did actually go through. :rotfl2:
As for the new website - I really enjoy working with it. I did a couple "test" dining reservations, which I let go again right after I made them and the only kink they have is that sometimes the date rotates back again.
I find the new website pretty well structured and I enjoy that they even put up menus for the CS places! :thumbsup2
You will find it is not bad at all. I just think that sometimes people do not welcome change and give up if they don't find things where they expect them. ;)
I hope they startt their fastpass plus before we go too! :lmao: Should be fun to pick your rides while you are still at home. :thumbsup2

Happy New Year Karin & Tom :cool1:

Thank you, Linda and Happy New Year to you too! :goodvibes

Happy New Year to you and your family, too, Tammie!
The room at the Contemporary was just awesome. It was hard to leave it again after two nights. ;)
Ron introduced us to Michael, who is from Austria too, the year before. We were really surprised he remembered us. ;)

As far as the fireworks go ... no, they do not pipe in the sound on the balconies, but they do pipe it in in the lounge, where you can view them too.

I was so surprised the system let me check in that early, but it feels so much more real not that it is done. I cannot believe we will be back in 46 days. :woohoo:

Happy New Year Karin & Tom!!!

Thank you, Rosie and Happy New Year to you and your family too! :goodvibes

Day 8, August 18

Spending time with friends - Part 1

We were up by 7am and after having taken showers and spent a little time on the balcony, we headed towards the lounge to grab some breakfast.

I had some tea, while Tom enjoyed some

Nespresso. They had quite an array of breakfast foods

and Tom chose

a bagel, which he toasted, with some cream cheese and some melon pieces. I took

IMG_4988.jpg

a chocolate croissant and some pineapple. I do have to admit that the chocolate croissant was very good and I went for a second helping.
After breakfast we went down to valet services and had our car brought around and quickly went offsite to do some shopping.
It had started to rain, but there was only very light rain when we returned

IMG_4998.jpg

and we decided to go and visit the Magic Kingdom. So we went upstairs and put our purchases into our room, then went down to the fourth floor and went to the Contempo Café.
We both got a drink and I wanted to try one of their cupcakes and therefore picked up

IMG_5005.jpg

IMG_5006.jpg

a Chocolate Peanut butter one. It was huge, moist and sweet. Tom didn’t want anything sweet, so he ordered

IMG_5009.jpg

the Steakhouse Salad, marinated beef, mixed greens shaved red onions, goat cheese, and vine-ripe tomatoes with mustard dressing.
It was quite a large helping, but very tasty. I needed something savoury after having eaten more than half of the cupcake, and since Tom was full and wanted to try the cupcake, we just switched plates. While we were still happily munching away, I heard a familiar voice.

To be continued ............

The Welcome to Disney World sign in the rain is different - actually pretty cool. I like it!

That cupcake looks AMAZING! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
