(which is what I've heard) - then herons run a close second.. While I was down to the beach today working on my sand castle I spotted one off to the right of me on the beach in the cove..

The stupid thing stood there for 6 hours - on one leg.. (Must have got confused and thought he was a flamingo..) He never moved an inch - never made a sound..

Can you imagine standing on one leg for 6 hours??? I would have offered him a chair if I had one....................

Actually a lot of the stuff about turkeys is a myth. I had a couple and they were smarter than the chickens. They came inside when it rained and no one got "scared to death".

Actually I think the winner in the "bird brain" category would be the Willow Ptarmigan. You can hunt those things with golf clubs.

I don't know about that. We have a few flocks of wild turkeys in our neighborhood. They have, on different occasions;

Tried to get on DS's school bus
Cross the VERY BUSY state road we live on
Walked up to the neighbor's dog
Run right into DH's car that was PARKED in the driveway That was pretty funny. *bonk*

C. Ann--I love herons, we have a pair on the golf course we abut, and they fly over every so often. I've not ever seen one standing on one leg for 6 hours though, maybe he was posing for you????
