If they removed the post-count boosting threads on the DIS...

would your post count slip to the Earning my EARS category? :stir:

I'm curious. I've been around since 2000. My post count is much lower than many around here  , but I generally don't post to game threads, and I stick to the CB unless I have a trip planned.

I might have gotten my hand slapped by Alex too many times in the early days...(not that I didn't like the attention, Alex! :teeth: ) and so I learned that just posting without thought or to add another post to my count was a big no-no.

What would happen to you if they started deleting the game threads, the exchange threads, the congrats threads, and any of the other miscellaneous, sometimes pointless (not that this isn't pointless, BTW) time-waster threads?

I don't think much would change for me. I would say easily 85-90% or more of my posts are not just to post-boosting threads but are actually responses of some kind.

Just consider your low-post-percentage proof that you have a life!!!

:teeth:

LOL, Paige. It is funny how things change, what is and is not allowed. :confused3 There are so many of those threads now. I recall when I use to ask the late-nighters, Shep, Sherry and a few others, who I am sure are gone now, to kindly limit themselves to a single 'one-word' thread a night, LOL. And they did. :goodvibes Now, sometimes, more than half of page one is all those kind. :badpc: Speaking of Alex (you did, not me, LOL), has anybody seen him lately? I have not seen him in ages. :confused3 Though he will probably pop in here now, I am sure he lurks some. :woohoo:

In answer to your question, Paige, no. I do gab a lot, but not aimlessly, LOL, at least IMO. As to your last paragraph, I would :yay: :cool1:  :cheer2: Well, not the exchange or congratulation threads, those are good, IMO. And you do have a life, Paige, full of it. :teeth:

I personally don't have a problem with any of the threads on the boards.

If something doesn't pique my interest - I just skip clicking on the thread. :)

I've been here since nearly the beginning, and I've never cared one way or other what my post count is.

I post what I want, when I want. It's as simple as that.

I agree with Pam. Except I'll add I don't like the troll threads. Thankfully those are rare.

I miss all my late nighters.:(

I have no problem with those threads, but I'd only go down by maybe a couple hundred

Same here :)

If you asked me on any given day what my post count was, without looking, I probably couldn't tell you within 1,000 posts either way. :confused3

Nope wouldn't make a difference at all. I don't care about my post count, I have no clue what it is. Some days I post a lot and then there are times where I can go weeks without posting. I just pass over those threads.

I don't participate in the game threads, dd makes fun of me because I have been here so long and only have 3000 posts.

I don't participate in those threads, obviously ;) , but they don't bother me. Well, except when I have to search through a million game threads on the CB to find other threads, sometimes they really take over. :lmao:

A little off-topic but I guess I'm confused why people feel the need for "thread-boosting posts" anyway??? Who care how many posts you've gotten? Is there a cash reward for having more?

I always just assumed people were bored and looking for input on random topics.

Well, if you look at my joined date, and my post count, I think it's pretty safe to say I don't try to boost my post count at all :) . Losing those threads I might lose two posts.

To tell you the truth, I don't even look at my post count.. The only time I have is when someone else has made a remark about it and then I'm like, "What are they talking about??" How dense is that ? :teeth:

I don't participate much on the games threads or swaps or stuff like that.. I just see a thread that looks interesting, I click on it, and invariably, I open my mouth and I insert my foot.. :lmao:

As far as I'm concerned they can do away with post counts.. I don't even know what the object of them are (or would that be "is"?)...

Ditto! I read every day, have for years. I post occasionally when the mood strikes me... :) I don't think I've ever posted in a "game" thread. :confused3 Who knows, if all the post count boosting threads were deleted, I might suddenly have MORE than some people. :rotfl2: (But, what does that mean?! :teeth: Who knows.)

I've been a member a long time and seldom post to the games. We have about the same post count.
