If there were no Disney ...

We travel to lots of places other than disney. We like to travel outside the US. We would just leave the country more often.

Universal. Where we go anyway. ;)

If no themeparks, I would check out a Caribbean island or two and try to get to Italy and England. And Majorca.

I wanted to add that we do go to other places. We just tend to travel domestically since the Florida themeparks eat up so much of our money and time.

:thumbsup2

Easy question as we are the same here. We rarely go to Disney anymore. If we go, it would only be a day trip out of our Universal vacation.

When we don't go to Universal, our other favorite places are Hawaii and lots of Europe as my entire extended family is there. As everybody else said, there is a whole world out there that is even more magical than Orlando, FL.

For several years when my kids were young, we would give them the choice of fishing with Grandpa in northern Minnesota (Leech Lake) or Disney. Every single time they chose fishing.

I do want to check out the Caribbean on our next vacation though. Seems to be the one spot we haven't made it to yet. So, next stop, Caribbean Island.

We go to Disney a lot but we also go other places. I really love the Caribbean. I enjoy the beach in general though.

Probably nowhere, we didn't really travel other than some day trips before going to Disney. Everytime we look at going somewhere else now, we still end up back at Disney, because for us it is the best deal.

I won't fly, so we are kinda limited to where we go. I may branch out next year.

Like the majority of other posters on this thread, while we love Disney it is far from the only place we visit.
It is the most repeated place, but not the only.
Other great places (for us):
Montreal.
Toronto
Chicago
Boston
Lakes Region New Hampshire
Southern Germany
Barcelona
Med. Cruises
Caribbean Cruises
Puerto Vallarta
London
Copenhagen
Salzburg
Detroit is worth a week for the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village alone
Mackinaw Island
Hawaii
Boulder Colorado
Disneyland Paris
. . .
There is a great big beautiful world out there--Disney World and Land are jsut tiny pieces of it;)

The rest of the world.

There really is a big, beautiful world out there, ya know.....:rotfl2:

I agree!!!!!!
Since the start of the year we have traveled to Morocco, Spain, Canary Islands & Bermuda.

I LOVE Disney we do go 2-4 times a year but if you don't get out of the "box" you are cheating yourself & your family (IMHO).

DW and I have been talking about looking for a vacation home in Canada for a few years.

If we didn't go to WDW, we'd probably already own the Canadian place.

In MY humble opinion too:thumbsup2 I honestly feel badly for the kids of people I see post once in a while who are upset that their kid does not want to go back to Disney and wants to go somewhere else instead. It seems often these posters ONLY vacation at Disney. SO there are kids realizing they are missing out on the big wide world and wanting to see more and parents refusing. Of course, that is not most people:goodvibes It just bugs me when I see it. Never going to WDW is a far better thing (IMHO) than never going anywhere else:rolleyes:--and yes I realize this is sacrilege on this board;):lmao:

We'd probably do a lot more camping and see the rest of the USA.

That would be us at the National Parks. Like another poster suggested, Key West. DH and I  Key West, as do our kids.

While there are a few places outside of the US I want to eventually visit, seeing this country first is our priority.

Did you do a cruise to Bermuda or fly and stay at a hotel? I am looking into Bermuda, and was wondering if you had any hotel recommendations. We have looked into the cruise but you just don't get much time there!

I am sorry, you must be confusing me with a different poster--I have never been to Bermuda. In the tropics we generally cruise. I get bored easily just hanging out on beaches so a week in one spot tropical location tends to wear on me (even Hawaii got old fast and we did just about everything on Ohau you could do with kids that was not the beach, including going to the wedding that brought us to Hawaii in the first place:lmao:. Hopefully someone else has been and can make some good recommendations for you.

" A cruise for my family would cost double what a Disney vacation does. "

It really is possible to cruise for a great price. As an example, we are a family of 5 doing a nine night cruise over the Thanksgiving holiday and are paying a little over $3000. That is not bad considering it includes all our meals/entertainment for nine full days. This also includes two cabins with two bathrooms.

We are taking the Explorer of the Seas out of NJ so there is no airfare since we are 3 hours from the port.

We've done several cruises with our kids and have always been able to snag a deal. I also just sailed the Explorer on a 5 night to Bermuda this past April and paid about $400. That is less than $100 a day including meals, lodging and entertainment.

Some great cruise sites to check out if you are interested are: cruisecritic.com, cheapertravel.com, royalcaribbean.com, carnival.com, etc..
