How quick are they at getting buses to Epcot and Hollywood Studios? I believe those are the two resorts the Skyliner goes to. Cut me some slack, I've only been to WDW once, and that was 8 years ago.😂

The answer is usually "never fast enough" when you get caught in that unfortunate situation and it "feels" like it's taking forever. In reality they tend to be pretty good about getting plan B up and running - but it just takes time and it can be a little chaotic as the new bus routes get up and running across multiple resorts, crowds are confused as to what to do, etc. It's an imperfect system but it does tend to eventually work its way out. One of those less frequent but can happen situations where Disney's "give yourself 90 minutes to get to your destination" warnings can apply.

Someone posted here last year that 1) the Skyliner went down, 2) people wating to board were directed to the Pop and AoA bus stops, and 3) when they got to the bus stops they were told that the Skyliner was up again and the buses had been canceled.

If you know of bad weather in the morning - then order a WDW minnie van the night before for which park you are going to, find out where to meet the WDW minnie van at your resort - worth every penny - use the LYFT app

Unless I'm missing something, to me it seems like Disney could take one step that would largely eliminate all of this:

At the Wilderness Lodge you can opt to take a water launch OR the bus every operating day.

At the Grand Flo and the Poly, you can opt to take the water launch OR the monorail every operating day.

Why can't POP/AOA have busses that run daily in addition to the Skyliner option? One, it would simplify things for people who want to stay at the resorts but have a fear of heights, and two, there's already a precedence for having multiple options of transport at other resorts.

You can't reserve a MV for the next day. You can only attempt to book them during their normal operating hours of 6:30 AM to 12:30 AM. daily.

You can schedule a Uber or Lyft in advance.

That is only for MK, and not for other parks.

Again only for MK. There are no normal daily buses to MK. And yes both the water launches and Monorail have been down due to weather / lighting numerous times.

It would make sense, but the main reason Disney Skyliner was built was to REPLACE
the huge numbers of Epcot/DHS buses for
Pop/AoA/CBR/DRR with a more efficient and cheaper in the long run mode of transport.

But they STILL have not ironed out a smooth system to notify Guests and handle transport when Skyliner is down.

One simple word - MONEY... That is a cost they don't want to incur. But I 100% agree with you...

"worth" is different for everyone, as for us, MV at 3x + the cost of lyft, no way is MV worth it!

We’ve seen reports of anywhere from 20-60 mins for Skyliner buses.

When I had to wait at the ig Skyliner station it was about 45 mins for the first bus.
In the early days when they were directing Guests to the BWI depot,we waited 4Ever!

Guest were on their phones calling Disney and going to the BWI Front Desk trying to find out something.

Many gave up and called Rideshare.

And unfortunately it is not a whole lot better these days.

Do buses still run from near the Skyliner area during inclement weather?
At a park? I know when it first opened they used to send buses to various locations around International Gateway when the Skyliner went down, but that has not been our experience the past few years. We have been told to go to the bus depot at the front of Epcot. Then you drag yourself all the way to the front of Epcot only to find the Skyliner has reopened and you need to go to IG again. It’s the reason we will not stay at a Skyliner resort during the summer. We ended up taking a MV from BC three times due to this, and decided that was enough. It’s not quite as bad at DHS, since the buses aren’t so far away from the Skyliner station.

We love Pop, but stay at All Star during stormy season. At least there we know we have to take a bus no matter what.

Love it when they tell people that, post signs saying that- and then still have buses running from IG Skyliner station.

It’s almost like they’re running some psych experiment on maximizing confusion and misery with diverse groups of exhausted, storm drenched people…

We were leaving Epcot from and the skyliner was down. We went out front to the buses and no one could tell us which number to go to and it wasn't on the sign. And of course it was storming and pouring rain and I was very frustrated. The trek from IG to the Epcot bus depot is long.

Now we just try to avoid leaving Epcot or HS if it's about to storm.

This is us as well. LOVE the skyliner when it's working as intended, but OMG is it TERRIBLE when it's not. We too, will not stay at a skyliner resort during the really rainy summer months...just not worth the risk/hassle.
