....will basically be locking General Public out of some of the GP discounts.

I think a few of us AP holders for early June are currently holding reservations using the GP discount. With intentions to switch to the AP rate if and when it is released. If the AP rate does not come out before March 27th then the GP discount booking date will pass and those discounts will basically be lost.

This would make it more worthwhile for Disney to release the AP rates ASAP!!! It is possible that someone is looking for a room at the GP rate and maybe it is not available. Those people could possibly make other vacation plans.

Ok does this sound logical? Come on Disney read it and see my revelation and give us the summer AP rates :)

That's an interesting point. I'm not sure how many other vacationers even know to look for a GP rate. If it's not being advertised, they might just book at whatever rate they can get. (Or I suppose they could just say, that's too expensive, without knowing they missed out, and simply not book...Maybe that's what you meant.)

Do you think TAs mention anything to their clients if there is an offer they can't get? Just curious. I would think, while the TA would like to get the best deal, they still want to make a sale. And it might be more difficult to do that, if people are walking away knowing everyone else got their vacation for less money.

Well, anyway, that is a good point. I hope it does get them thinking.

I had a trip booked for April 30th-May 8th using the GP discount. Since AP rates were so late coming out I was getting a little panicky. If they hadn't came out by March 16th we would have been within the 45 day out time frame and would have had to pay a penalty in order to switch to the AP rate. I couldn't believe that Disney waited until almost the last minute to release those AP rates a week or so ago. Then when they finally did come out they were so small they weren't that much different from the GP discounts. About $75.00 on the room rate for the eight nights is all we saved from the GP discount, (plus we didn't have to buy one day park tickets in order to buy the DDP).

I booked November on the old 35/40 PIN for the same reason. They wait so long to offer free dining and I didn't want to be sitting here in September wanting to book a trip and not able to get any discount at all.

are you saying if I call Disney and ask for a discount I can get a better rate than if I just go online and book?

I did.... called a couple of days ago and said that I was getting impatient waiting for a AP rate for June and asked if there was any other pin available for me. She checked a few codes and was able to give me free dining. :cool1:
