If Starwars Land Gets Announced for Disneyland Prices at VGC to Rise?

Who knows if the rumors are true, but if a massive Starwars Land does get announced for Disneyland, would we see a jump in the pricing for VGC contracts?

VGC is the smallest DVC Resort already with the wait-list closed, and the only DVC option at Disneyland so there is already pressure on the price as seen with a steady increase in contract prices this year.

We are in the process of buying our first two contracts at the VGC but curious if others see the prices continuing to rise, especially with the prospect of a Starwars Land being added to Disneyland.

VGC prices will always remain high and that is mostly because of the size of the resort (very small=high demand and low supply) and the location. (pretty close to INSIDE a theme park) That said, I doubt that prices will go up much more. I've been hearing rumors of the Paradise Pier Hotel being flattened and in its place will be a DVC resort. If that happens, then it'll take a lot of heat off of VGC.

I don't think any one land or attraction at Disneyland will impact the prices at VGC. The pure lack of availability, few rooms, and high interest does that by itself.
I don't think announcing Avatar or the known pending addition of Pixar Place, Star Wars, etc. at WDW has impacted DVC sales there.

You either want to come to the parks or not and if one announcement or land is the tipping poing - DVC is likely not a good decision. It's a long-term committment that ties you to visiting the resort over a period of many years. Attractions and lands will come and go over that time period.

I'm with the PP's. Prices at VGC will rise along with the prices everywhere. It will happen regardless of a new "land" being announced or not.

For the most part I agree that no immediate uptick in VGC pricing. With that said, Disney wouldn't invest $1Billion or so Dollars in a new land if it didn't think that the new land would attract additional visitors and higher prices for everything including rates at the Grand California.

As rack rates increase at the Grand this will put further pressure on VGC pricing. Also, unlike WDW there is currently a total of one DVC option at Disneyland which is also the smallest of all the DVC Resorts so any upward movement in pricing should be more pronounced over time.

I recently saw a resale listing for VGC at $160 per point. We just paid $124/pt for a 300 loaded point contract in February and $140/pt for a 100 point contract that we should close on soon. So I think prices are already climbing, and I don't know how much further they can even go. Would Disney let them go for more than the direct purchase price?

Absolutely they would. They won't want to ROFR them at the prices they are demanding now and there's nothing that dictates a maximum price. Besides, the high prices will provide impetus for them to expand DVC in CA.

Why would DVD excerise ROFR at a price higher than the current direct selling price? You can't make a profit if you buy high and sell below cost.

It is now official that a massive new Star Wars themed Land is coming to Disneyland. Guess we'll find out what (if any) impact this will have on pricing for rooms at the Grand Californian along with contracts for VGC. Maybe there won't be any impact on VGC prices, but I for one am glad that my two first VGC contracts will be closing next month. Have to think that trying to get a booking at the 7 month window for VGC will be even more difficult once the new Star Wars Land opens.

Star Wars land is also projected to be built on the east coast as well.... At Hollywood. Just wondering if that might affect BWV and BCV....

Their will be a bigger demand for the EPCOT/Hollywood Studios resorts, especially for Star Wars weekends. These new lansd I think will make Prices for DVC go up for every resort, which makes me buying into DVC smart.

I don't think Star Wars Land will be ready before 2019, it's too early for an impact on pricing. And before then they might announce a new DVC at DL. At least I hope they do. And they could easily ask $190-$200pp
