If only 1 day -- DHS or MK?

I might have only 1 day to choose either park. Overall, I prefer MK's atmosphere but we are going when Big Thunder Mountain will be down, so I'm thinking one less ride means every other ride will be busier. I like MKs rides, but my *favorite* ride is Tower of Terror. I also love Toy Story Mania. The other rides and atmosphere are just OK at DHS.

What would YOU do?

I like DHS a lot but would probably choose MK. For us, it's a longer day and if were going for just one day I would want it to be a full one.

Enjoy your day whichever you choose.

:)

Personally there is nothing like the initial feeling when you arrive at Disney and walk into Magic Kingdom down Main St. and Magic Kingdom isn't even my favorite park. Epcot is #1 for me.

I would do MK. After the two you listed, how many other rides are at DHS? Let's see: RnR, Star Tours, GMR, um, um, um.... See my point? There is so much more to do at MK. A single ride closure (or even two, if you want to include Dumbo, for instance) at MK has no appreciable effect on the rest of the park. Splash may see more business since it's right next door, but that's about it.

We'd probably pick DHS because it's our favorite park and feel it has more "adult" rides. Plus the shows take up a good amount of time, and we also love the animation academy which can be time consuming. However, if you're planning on staying at night, MK does have better night time activities with the parade and Wishes.

You could also add park hopper to a one day ticket for another $35 and do DHS in the morning and MK in the afternoon :thumbsup2

I think it depends on who is in your party. DH and I went with some adults a couple years ago and only had two days. We chose DHS and Epcot. If I was going with my family, I would choose MK. DHS is not a full day and I agree that if I only had one day I would want more ride options. TOT is also my favorite ride, BTW.

Thanks for all the replies :)

To answer -- it will be me and my family (DD - 14, DS - 12). We've been fortunate enough to go to Disney almost annually for the past 7 or 8 years. I do think this will be our last trip for several years now that my DD is in high school. We will also be going to AK and Universal for sure.

I'm just really struggling between MK or DHS.

A WDW trip would never be complete to me without the MK. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you take that first look down Main Street. No matter how many times we've been to WDW, we always go there first.

I would do DHS--our favorite rides are there.

Maybe schedule a dinner later on the MK side where you can watch MK fireworks from :)

If you're doing a day at ak too I'd add hoppers and do dhs after ak, then mk on the second day.

Of those two, the Magic Kingdom. But it would be Epcot for me if I only had enough time for one park.

This is a good idea but then OP likely wouldn't be able to do TSM, unless they are willing to wait over an hour. I would probably do MK after AK, and then start the next morning at DHS, and then hop to MK if we want to.
