We have decided not to eat at Trail's End on arrival day and move it to later in the week. My kids want to go to the campfire and movie on arrival night. Is there anywhere to eat other than TE? I heard that there isn't a counter service location but I thought I read about take out or something. If there is takeout is is near the campfire area?

Trails End has takeout and the Chuckwagon at the Movie has some food.

Here is a Chuckwagon Menu from June 2006

6 inch Pizza - Cheese $4.29

Hot Dog - $2.35, with chili - $2.85

Nachos & cheese - $3.25; with chili - $3.75

Popcorn - $2.36

Marshmallows and 2 Roasting Sticks - $2.15

S'mores Pack (includes 2 sticks) - $4.93, extra stick - $0.33

Candy & Chips - $1.17

Chocolate Chip Cookie - $1.41

Coke, Diet Coke, Diet Sprite, Cherry Coke, Sprite, Orange, Barq's Root Beer, Nestea Cool (12 oz) - $1.50

Coffee - $1.59

Water - $2.25

Apple Juice, Lemonade, Fruit Punch - $1.50

Bud Lite/Budweiser - $3.50

Ice Cream Bars/Fruit Bars - $2.36

I sure wish I had known about the Chuckwagon last week. There were many nights when a quick mini pizza or nachos would have been perfect for the kids in between waterparks and MK.

FYI....Trails' End now accepts reservations and I was told while we were there that reservations are "recommended and often required" to get a table.

Carol, that is awesome!
Also, Trail's end has some takeout and the nachos and pizza are good bets.

Thanks so much all of you. That sounds like just what I was looking for. Are there places to sit and eat? We are staying at the cabins and it looks like a long way back to our room with the food.

I believe the hours at the Chuckwagon coincide with the movie and singalong, so it is designed for you to eat while you are at the movie.

Those prices are a bit outdated now...

I remember off the top of my head these:

"sticks" .53 cents each

Smoores pack = $7.00

Pack of marshmellows and 2 sticks = $3.00 or $3.50 (can't remember for sure)

We also take our take out from TE to the tables at the marina and eat. You may just be accosted by the wayward gull or duck.

Most of the public areas have seating, and you could sit on the water as FtWildernessGuy mentioned, find a bench somewhere, take a break at the campfire area. Lots of places with nice views :)

The Trails End has a great fried chicken dinner to go. It is 19.99 and it feeds out family of 5 with plenty to spare.

Thank you..I can't wait. We won't have a car so we will be doing all of our dining on property. I looked up allears.net and it sound like their is enough variety to make everyone in my family happy. I think that eating by the marina would be a perfect way to start off our trip. Now I just have to wait the 4 months.

What other restaurants are at the Crossroads center?

Thanks,
Teresa

There is a Chevy's there and some fast food. I also like to go to Downtown Disney as well. If you like sandwiches make sure you visit Earl of Sandwich. DD and I enjoyed it. Rainforest is good and there are lots of other choices. I believe there is literature on DTD at the Outpost Office.

Wow! That's great. Good to know. Thank you!:thumbsup2
We don't have dinner reservations for the day we arrive either. Plan was to hang out once we set up, check out FW, go to the fire and sing-a-long, then watch the movie. We weren't sure what to eat either. Thanks!

When you order take out do you go inside the restaurant to order, can you call? How long does it generally take to get an order? I've been there so many times and never even thought of take out. Also, what time are they open? I think I remember breakfast items.

Thanks!

We plan on getting the fried chicken takeout at least one of the nights we are there during Thanksgiving. I'll have to make a trip to Mexico in Epcot and make sure I get some hot sauce first ;)

Man I can't wait.

As of early June, there was no pizza at the Chuckwagon.:sad1:

When you get takeout at TE, you will go up the stairs instead of stopping at the podium. There is a sign directing you for takeout. If you get the buffet, they will give you the containers right away and you help yourself. Don't know how long it takes for the other things--chicken, etc. We've only done the entire meal or soup and salad (my sister loves their chili and cornbread).

Chevy's, McDonalds, Pizzaria Uno, TGIFridays.

If you turn left instead of going into Crossroads, there is an Olive Garden, Pizza Hut, Romano's Macaroni Grill, Chili's, Giordano's, Steak N Shake, Burger King, Ale House and a so-so Chinese Buffet. There's tons of restaurants right in that area. I used to work in that area, and it was so nice to have lots of options within walking distance.
