If not October, then when?

I am planning a trip for October 05 and have been watching these boards the past couple of months to see how people are preparing for this year -

It seems as though October is getting a bit nuts! Mousesavers has a good summary about all of the Oct activities as a justification for why there don't seem to be as many discounted rooms available - there are so many disappointed people on the resort forums - especially for WL, which is where I want to stay -

I have read many guide books and thought that mid-fall would be a great time for us - we have a 2-day break from school that we will extend for a week-long trip - but I'm so worried now that October is becoming less of an "off-season" time -

Any thoughts?

I have been 3 times as an adult: early May, late March and early October. Of the three trips, last October was the most crowded. Now bare in mind that last October they had the big media event surrounding the grand opening of Mission Space and Wishes, so that could account for part of it, but still I think that it sounds like every year October becomes more popular. More schools are going to the new calendar that includes a fall break. We get the first two weeks of October. I have heard right after Labor Day until the end of Sept. is slow as well as the first three weeks of December, before Christmas breaks begin.

We went last year in February and it wasn't too bad - but we wanted to try fall for warmer weather -

Our biggest issue is days out of school for the kids - part of me says I need to minimize their days missed - part of me says they'll have plenty of years in school and that trips make wonderful memories -

I've also heard that early December is good - it's just so inconvenient -

Any other thoughts on Octobers from anyone else?

We went in Ocotber 200 and didn't think it was bad at all. We are going the 2-9 this year and I am a little concerned about the crowds. Everything seems to be sold out! So we will see.

This will be our first time going in October, but I'm really excited. Sounds like weather will be nice and crowds moderate. I also really liked January, but the days before New Years were murder.

Be sure to post a trip report when you return from your trip - I'm anxious to hear if the sense I'm getting on these boards is just hype or if there really is an increase in crowding than in years past
