If MK is closed (capacity), do on site resort guests turned away also?

Can you get in if you are a resort guest, if MK is closed to capacity? Or is everyone turned away?

There's different levels of closure. At first, only off-site guests are turned away. The last resort is to turn all guests away. However, all on-site guests are guaranteed admission to at least one park at any given time.

I always wondered about that myself. As an off-site guest, I've been turned away from MK and TL in the past, but as an on-site guest it hasn't ever happened even though the parks were jam packed. I guess things have to get really out of hand before the on-site guests are turned away.

And guests have the most inventive ways of trying to bypass the system but Disney has seen it all. I have seen peiople go to the Contemp, Poly or GF and try to get on the monorail there to get in. Disney has learned to post a CM at the appropriate spot to require room cards before allowing passage to the monorail.

I have witnessed CMs asking for room keys and proof of ID before allowing access to the monorail platform.

The water parks turn people away once they hit capacity, whether they're resort guests or not. Usually happens on hot days by 11 a.m. Rest assured, though, the crowds die off by about 2 p.m., so if you're ever turned away, just head to a park and come back to the water park later!

What monthes do the parks usually fill to capacity.
I've never been there when this has happened. We always go low season, but next visit will be in August 2004 and will be off site.

It's very rare for any of the parks to close due to capacity. It usually only happens on holidays...if then. I know during our Christmas trip the only park that actually closed was the MK on Christmas day and New Years Eve. It was closed to off site guests by 10am or so on Christmas. Whether it ever closed to onsite guests I don't know, but it didn't remain closed the entire day. Neither Epcot or MGM closed to anyone.

I wouldn't worry about it at all unless I was going on a very busy holiday.

Oldest DD and I did a 'last minute' trip NYE 98/99 (visiting friends in Fla and a family member offered us an off site room he was going to cancel). I forced her up at the crack of dawn to get in line at the toll booth at the MK entry(about 6:30 AM-we were the 3rd car in line) - she was not thrilled at the time! We were in the park at 8 AM and a CM later told us that the park closed at 9:30 AM at full capacity - I had never known it was possible for a park to reach capacity so quickly!! My heart went out to all the parents who didn't know that either and got all the way there only to be turned away (think crying kids sitting in a long line of cars). We were in the park from 8 AM until 2 AM !!(we were afraid to leave and not be able to get back in)- A very long and crowded day - but we had fun ! - I remember thinking over and over that day how glad I was that I was with my grown-up DD and not one of the younger kids - at least we could hold places for each other at the shows/parades and could use the rest rooms alone (you parents with little ones know what I mean!)
I'm pretty sure that this only happens on the biggest of holidays - we have been 4 other times on the 4th and not had it happen, but on those days there is no such thing as "too early"!

Pretty sure that if you go into a park early, get you hand stamped and leave, you are basically gauranteed re-entrence later that day.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? We did this at Epcot one NYE.

Or maybe this is the only day you can go to MK cause your time is very limited in Orlando.

Gregg - on the NYE I mentioned above we were told at the exit that if we left the park (stamp or not) we were not "assured" of reentry - although we may likely have gotten back in, we decided not to risk it as we wanted to be in the park at midnight.

We went to EPCOT for NYE 98/99, and we were also told if we left, we would not be allowed back in. So we stayed. All day. By midnight, everyone was cranky!

The water parks closed at capacity ALL THE TIME in the summer -- especially on the warmest days. Usually people would hit it in the morning, it would close before noon, then after noon, people would drift back to their hotels and we'd reopen. So the best time to go to the water park are early morning, when they first open, or around 2 p.m. After a rain shower is the BEST time -- everyone else is afraid they'll melt, and leaves!
