Four plus years on these boards has made me realize how rich my life is for being sucked into the DIS (Tina, btw, don't even know your screen name on here, but THANKS!). In that vein, I've decided to list (in no particular order) the things that I've done, purchased, or changed as a result of the "DIS influence". The list would be much longer if I could remember all the little things!

My job. The job prior got me into the DIS, but all the talk about meal prep places made me seek one out to manage. So thanks!

Crocs. My feet thank all those people who rave about the ugly/comfy shoes

Florida. All the talk about Clermont got me to look and ultimately move to Florida (but not to Clermont!)

BaB. Yes, I had one before, but now I've got another because of the YaYa talk.

Cherry Cordial Kisses, free Take 5s, Sonic, single serve Kool Aid, lemon cooler girl scout cookies. My waistline is much richer for finding these things!

Refrigerated coolers-the trips down I95 were much quicker (and the instant barrier between the kids was great) because we had the favorite foods chilling right in the back seat.

Medical advice: Plantar Faciitis info, Ablation info and much more-it's no wonder people ask medical questions on the CB-this place is soooo much better than webMD when you don't have a name for what ails you. (or know first hand about a special needs kid)

Hotel advice: I'd been to WDW several times, but the insights given have been appreciated. :)

There are probably 100 more things I could add, but that would take all day.

Care to share your lists?

Questions answered with out asking myself and great cyber friends that make me laugh.

Wish I had a maid to clean and cook while I dis though.

Jason,

my life is now complete, lol. That's my very first 'long post' :teeth:

Maid? Yeah, could use one. Cook? that's why I have this job now-I just pop it in the oven after making a bunch of meals at work and putting them in the freezer.

Suzanne

you earned it sexy

I would have a clean house.
I would have finished my cross stitch pictures.
I would not have to have a DVR
I would not have carpal tunnel (Okay maybe not exactly)
I would be a perfect mom and spend all my time with my children :rotfl:

I'm thankful for a lot of things from the dis!!! :lmao:

Actually, I blame them for the BaBs that our family adopted also ::yes::

As for what I've gotten from the DIS, I just popped in about 4 or 5 years ago for info on planning a trip. I forgot to leave :teeth:

Yeah, and after that quality time, they would probably find their own bulletin board where they could hide too. ;)

:rotfl:

I am so glad you started this one Suzanne!!!! I was going to if you didn't! So I came back from my shower and here it is :teeth:

I'll do my list later, it will take a while ;)

Tara, I'm sure you forgot the most important one... the opportunity to see my husband in the future, without his shirt on :teeth:

I need to fly, but I will be back for this one. I have both real and funny to add!

Without the DIS:

I would not have made some wonderful friends, both online and those I went on to get to know in real life.

I would not have tried some great restaurants at WDW, because we always used to just do counter service.

I would have been in a panic when my son ate some toothpaste.

My son wouldn't have had a great cowboy hat for Western Day at school. ;)

I would not have been exposed to some viewpoints that have made me think differently about some things.

My husband and I would have a lot less "inside" jokes based on something we read on the DIS.

I am sure that there is a lot more, but I can't remember everything right now!

What's a refrigerated cooler? I can't believe that I missed something! :rotfl:

I will think of my list. More than anything, I have a messy house that I can blame on the DIS, but I am working on that today. :teeth:

oohh yeah and that one too!! woohoo!! West Virginia here we come!!!!! :rotfl:

T&B, instead of renting a fridge in the resorts at 10 bucks a night, I bought one of these

This little baby has saved me a couple of hundred bucks at WDW alone, probably a couple hundred more on the drives up and down I95 twice a year and made my employees happy every Christmas season (I would fill it with sodas so they didn't have to venture into the mall craziness!)

I didn't even get into the friends, Lainey! It's always fun to explain exactly how you met someone-like one who walked in for her first day at my store (a transfer) and she asked "Are you Poohnatic?" We'd done a pin exchange years before! Imagine telling the boss that you've 'known' the new employee for two years!

Oh, I thought the cooler was a drink! :rotfl:

My real life friends who know about my internet friends think that I'm NUTZ! They laugh at me. But that's ok...I laugh at myself, too. ;)

Oh, one thing that I've bought is a Litter Robot auto litter box. That sucker was expensive, but very nice.

Poohnatic, how could I forget? Of course, the pizza in Hagerstown (Vince's, right?).

Without the DIS I wouldn't know :

-OxyClean and how it gets every stain out

-What movies to see and what to avoid

-Lots of dirt about All My Children

-That there are other folks who are as fanatical about Amazing Race as I am

-Lots of info about Hawaii in case I actually get there one day rather than just dreaming about it

-Most of all that there are great folks all over the world to share lots of random knowledge and the ups and downs of life

I told Luis too... he can hardly wait!!!!

Of course the absolute #1 for me with this place are my friends. I have a few really close friends that I love dearly. They mean the world to me... and I would do anything I could for them.
They are the ones who get me to travel to WDW, DL, Chicago, MI, PA, IN, and various locations in Ohio! I swear I have traveled so much visiting friends from here... well it is just awesome!!!!!!

You know I started this list of things like Build a Bear and Italian Charms (thanks especially to Nancy on those two) and then I realized it would go on forever.

I think I know I've saved a TON of money at WDW thanks to people here.

I have also learned a ton about WDW and DL.

I've had great travel companions over the time. Whether it is sharing rooms and watching fireworks out the windows together, sharing pizza and Asti at 10 PM or even just one ride on TTA together... I have had some of my best times with people from here.

I've learned and tried so dang much here thanks to everyone. I can't even begin to really put it in a list

I didn't really need to come back and post this, but I promised I would

This place just rocks for many reasons!!!

If it wasn't for the Dis, I would have a lot less laughter in my life. Not that my life isn't great - it is - but it isn't regularly surprisingly funny. Which is probably a good thing.

Oh, and I would think that I am totally alone in being totally confounded by the dilemma: "free food" or AP rates? "free food" or AP rates?

There's too many to list them all:

But here's a few:

- I wouldn't have been able to tell my mom that the new Stephanie Plum book is out now.

- I wouldn't know what grits are.

- I wouldn't know how to pronounce "Le Cellier" properly.

- I wouldn't have anyone to turn "All My Children" into hash with everyday. ;)
